Iceland PM steps down amid scandal...

I thought he was going to fight it (and the press damage control it).

Hope it's the start of many, especially in Anglosphere countries (USA, Can, Aus, UK) since they seem untouchable.

Iceland is so small, their federal politics is like local politics and their politicians are probably known face to face by a lot of the population.

I just saw that podgy little cock boy on the news..scandalous I tell ye!

One can dream that this could be the new trend but nothing will happen about this panama shit... nothing.
Iceland is one of a kind, small population and no trace of eurolatins...

There could be a move to establish a global tax system and/or further international systems integration. Something like that could be the reason for the leak in the first place.

Guess we'll see, but it's something to watch for.

I'm sure his replacement will be more cautious to hide their corruption.

Well his brave stance of "I will not resign" lasted for about 20 minutes. Perhaps looking outside his window, and seeing 10% of the population with pitchforks in their hands, made him snap back to reality.
But apparently he insists on remaining the chairman of his political party. So a slight dose of delusion is still left intact.

Iceland is still not in the clear though, there are still the problem of ministers from both coalition parties being implicated in offshore companies. So until investigations are done with this whole Panama thing, Icelanders can't really be sure who to vote for. It's not that long ago that their country went bankrupt, and now the population got deceived once again by a PM who won the election with his "Down with corrupt bankers" message. So they are probably having some trust issues with their government officials now, to say the least.

Cannot wait for some American names to start coming out

I had assumed the reason he changed his mind about resigning is because his party turned against him as a liability, but this must not be the case if they're still going t let him lead it. Could he have actually resigned because it looks bad for him?
