Everyone underestimating Iaquinta, but imo he’s a legit top 10 at least, and in my minds eye couldn’t see him losing to Alvarez.

Of course he’s not prepared for this fight, but I think he will do better than people think he will.

Lol at “would beat”

Anyway, it’s a legit title fight as long as one of the guys legit should be there imo (khabib)

Ends justify the means in fighting and it all works out over time

How does Alvarez have anything to do with this?

I like Al and I think its a good fight, its just when youre prepared to see Tony Ferguson and then Max Holloway, this is underwhelming in comparison.

Absolutely. But I do agree with TS that this isn't the most lopsided title fight we've seen by any stretch. DJ has faced at least 3-4 opponents that stood a far less chance than Al. TJ fought Joe Soto. Shit happens, could be worse.

You cannot play any "would" games when determining the legitimacy of a title fight. I agree that Al is good tho, I'm much more excited for this fight than for example Pettis vs Khabib,

I don't think Max factors into this. The possibility of him fighting only lasted a few days, and healthy Al with a full camp is probably better than injured Max with no camp and an extreme 6-day weight cut.

He's certainly better than Pettis, too. Khabib was actually preparing for Pettis' strengths by preparing for Tony (scrambles/subs from the bottom, striking). Tony is better at everything that Pettis, except unorthodox kicks and TKD stuff...which Pettis hasn't used effectively (and barely even tried) in years.

“Would beat” ???

This is worse than MMA math.

I'm gonna disagree that a fight with him vs Alvarez is any foregone conclusion. His best wins are against a '15 Lauzon or '17 Diego Sanchez - those aren't great names, especially in that time period. I'm not even counting the Gamebred fight because it was a disgusting robbery.

Still, it's a 'legitimate title fight', because it's in their contracts, they made weight, and their fighting - that's all that really matters. It's not a unified LW title, or undisputed, but it's still a title fight nonetheless

What does Alvarez have to do with this your post is dummber then Conor throwing shit at the bus

Kevin Lee was able to out grapple him for a bit and Khabib is no Kevin Lee. I like this fight more then Barbosa though because Barbosa is very kick heavy where Al can mix it up

Alvarez would absolutely destroy ragin Al. He is literally better everywhere

He beat masvidal whether you count it or not you twerp

Oh you have convinced me.. you saw it in your minds eye so this fight must be legit

So long as one of the best guys is there

Everyone thinks Khabib is #1 so if he wins he solidifies it, if Al beats the consensus #1 then of course he deserves it

I'll be honest I think full camp Al is a harder fight than 6 day Holloway

This is worse than MMA math.

i am proud to introduce to you all the new standard of analysis: the MMA theoretical physics.

the fun thing about it is that unless you can confute it it stands true.

A lot of LWs would beat Conor if he ever fought them, it's not like Nate is some LW killer so half the roster are 'legit'.

If someone had a record like Iaquinta and was fighting DJ no one would have a problem with it and rankings are agreed by a bunch or journalists so it's not like they mean anything. If there were no rankings Iaquinta would be fine too.

Stripping champions of their belts and fighting for a vacant title is nothing new in the UFC either.
