"I gassed"

"I was fighting someone two weight classes bigger"

How are these not excuses? He lost fair and square, against a fighter who didn't even get time to prepare.

He said, umpteen times, that he didn't utilize his energy very well. What should he say when the reporters keep asking what's going through his mind and what happened? Should he just not answer? He was asked what happened and he gave a description of how he thought it played out.

It's not good for your image when you come out and just say "I got my ass whipped," especially when you're currently holding a belt. He fought a good fight against a bigger opponent and he noticed that he made some mistakes. Admitting to those mistakes isn't really an excuse, is it?

Maybe Ido made the excuses and Conor just repeated them. Technically Conor might not have made the excuses.

When you get the lucky charms slapped out of you

Technically you can't say anything without being accused of using excuses, but the weight class one, he dug his own grave on this one.

Yeah, he gave you real reasons. Maybe he should use one of the Nogueira lines or Anderson lines. Dude was honest, he was punching Nate in the head repeatedly and gassed himself.

"That's what they all say, you wasn't sorry when you sucked him off in the hallway" - MF DOOM

the two weight classes above statement is an excuse. Especially since they weighed basically the same. But he said it was his own fault that he gassed by being too reckless and missing too many punches; that's not an excuse.

The "I was fighting a bigger man" thing wouldn't look that bad if he didn't also say "Size doesn't matter in true warfare"

All that stupid shit he said before the fight is making him look that much more silly.

What exactly was Anderson excuses? He had a legit rib injury in that first Chael Sonnen fight. Conor on all the interview keep bringing up weight, even tho, if they fought at 155 they would still go in the with same weight as they did saturday

It's rare to hear a fighter just admit that they got their ass kicked.

Last one I remember was Pettis after the Dos Anjos fight. He actually said, "he whooped my ass."

That is a rarity.

I can't wait for the "a lion should never go hunting with a full belly" bit for Conor's next fight.

Irish just as bad as brazilians making excuses ....

his excuse that he mentioned several times was that he didn't use energy efficiently. As if he would have won if he had more energy. He got outboxed by a better fighter, he should just admit it

I think people confuse an excuse with an explanation in these parts. An excuse is "I lost because of [insert atypical situation here]. On any other day, I would have won." An explanation is "I lost because of [insert reason here]".

I'm not a huge McGregor fan, but come on, he didn't make excuses. He said the guy was bigger and he wasn't able to knock him out easily because of that. If anything, he's admitting his power is more limited than he originally thought. And because of that he gassed because he threw hard all the time thinking he'd eventually get a knock out, only to find out a bigger guy can't be so easily knocked out.

Bitter little Irishman can't even give Nate props.

They're statements, not excuses. He did gas and he was fighting two weight classes above his own.

An excuse is I had an injury that nobody knew about and only that person knew if it hurt or not or saying that had personal issues like marriage issues etc is the reason you got beat up. He did gas out and Nate was much bigger, what makes them sou nd and look like excuse is that he is the one who accepted the fight now your complaining about it. A reason can often look like an excuse

I laughed when Sonnen asked Overeem on UFC tonight : "so what happened in the Bigfoot fight?" Overeem:"What happened? I got knocked the fuck out is what happened."
