Chael said those tests are like 40k each and with the high amount of tests...Not to mention the loss of PPV sales from all the canceled fights and wasted promotions

Helped them get into NY, which helped the sale. Worth every penny.

exactly.

don't expect this level of testing to be sustained.

The Fertitas/Zuffa paid for this level of testing so they could market the UFC as a clean sport to potential buyers.

40k each??? That sounds overpriced as hell, even with travel expenses.

No major sport has this level of sustained, random Olympic style testing. Olympics, once every 4 years. Tour De France, once a year.

UFC? several times a month, per event. It's crushingly expensive for the USADA agents to travel and administer surprise random tests, on top of the lab fees, not to mention fights that are canceled because of it.
Athletes participating in Olympic sports are subjected to year around USADA testing, they aren't just tested during Olympic years. Team USA wrestling, archery, judo, badminton, water polo, etc. sure aren't paying thousands of dollars per individual test.

Alot of main stream still see mma as borderline barbarism. Look no further than some of the arguments made in the NY legislature/senate ... After it got passed.

It looks much better to fence sitters with legit testing that is bringing down big names not just a few sacrificial scrubs. Than it could ever look with no testing and obviously roided fighters.

It's a business. And the bottom line is the bottom line. Let's see...

Buy for $ 2M. Spend many millions on testing. Assuming that cost of testing is accurate. Sell for $ 4B.

The USADA didn't cost Zuffa shit. It was a now essential cost of doing business. Yet somehow in 2015 they made $ 150M profit.

And you seem to be blaming the cops here ( USADA ). When you should be blaming the robbers ( Cheaters ). You can't be serious.

40,000 LMAO

It's expensive but it also provides legitimacy to a sport often referred to as cock or cage fighting. It's probably more needed in MMA then any other sport considering the growth stage of MMA.

We all knew this could happen in the 1st year or so as the athletes adjusted their protocols around the new testing and an evolving pit bull in Jeff Novitsky. This guy is no joke and he is not stuck in the past. It is his passion to stay up to date on new PED tactics.

Athletes will still cheat, but it becomes harder and harder.

The people who started it don't care they sold the business before it mattered...fucking brilliant!

They brought in testing to give the sport legitimacy to help the sell and sold before the it started to hurt their bottom line...fucking brilliant business move.

Thats why I said the Fertittas sold at the perfect time. They knew USADA would clean up the sport so much where the sport would have noone left to fucking fight. You take an advil your flagged. USADA was a bad decision. Its killing legacies of great fighters, its ruining great events. Its been a mess since. "its good its cleaning up the sport" smh...yeah they can clean my ass

Did you look at the official banned list? Im willing to bet your using a deodorant, a toothpaste, or headache medicine that would flag you and pull you from a fight. Cleaning up a sport is one thing but jesus some of it is ridiculous

So it cost the ufc 40k/fighter? So you are telling me they pay a fighter 8/8 to fight but pay 40k to get that fighter tested? These numbers don't add up. Typical card has what 24 fighters? The ufc has to spend close to a million just in testing every card?

How about what the ones failing these test are costing? The UFC had to know that all of this was subject to happen. The fighters also knew. It's the cost of striving to get this thing where they ultimately want it to be.

The testing cost is on the USADA. The money lost from failed tests is on the fighters.
