How to make Mayberry go all war room.

Honestly, if/when I go back stateside, I am not ordering steak at a steakhouse for a while. Prime Rib!

I went to an upscale steak house for dinner in Beverly Hills the other night and this particular establishment refused to bring me steak sauce when I asked for it. I asked for either A1 or Worcestershire sauce and they looked at me like I committed a crime against humanity.

If I'm paying $100 for a well-done steak dinner then I think I'm entitled to eat it the way I want without any judgement. What kind of restaurant would refuse such a request? It's unheard of! I swear steak snobs are worse than vegans.

Um..you should have been kicked out for asking for well done...lol

I agree, you should be able to put whatever you want on it if youre paying that much...

But you're a goddamn idiot to pay that much and then make it taste like an $8 steak.

I'm sure their not, the expensive steak would be better, but what I mean is even if the steak was exactly the same, people would still convince themselves mentally that the steak from the fancy place was so much better.

Same with wine.
I bet if you swapped a

Yeah, only they're not the same. A good steakhouse dry ages their steaks, often in-house for 3-4 weeks. I'm pretty sure Sysco delivers steak frozen to Denny's.

I found a USDA Prime, Nebraska corn fed, dry aged 35 days sirloin at Cut to be underwhelming; not worth the price of admission. I'd rather grill at home. Bone marrow was to die for, doe.

Is it true that it's rude or frowned upon to ask for or to add salt & pepper to your meal in a fancy restaurant or dinner party?
I've never been to either, i'm just going from what I've seen on cookery shows.

Fuck that. I don't care how well seasoned the cook thinks it is, I want to add my own salt and pepper.

I prefer to eat as-is. May be fine in Western style restaurants, but don't put more wasabi and soy sauce if you eat at a nice sushi joint.

Reminds me of the scene in Joy Luck Club where the American boyfriend visited Chinese girlfriend's family for the first time. Mom made her special dish, and as Asians are wont to do, she downplayed her food by saying it was tasteless. American dude "fixed" the issue by pouring soy sauce all over it, while Uncle Wang let out a huge yell of horror. lol

EDIT: found it lol

I remember having this expensive dinner for graduation half the class was like can we just hit up a burger joint

You asked for a well done steak?

So you're the guy. I heard about you at Food and Wine. We had several jokes at your expense. Is it true you paid the check with rolls of dimes?

Paying $100 for a single steak is just stupid. Is a $100 steak really 5 times better then a $20 steak?
