I want Nate to win just because he's Nate, but common... if Conor loses UFC's landscape gets boring.

The hilarity of Conor winning, rubbing it against the UFC, against everyone, Sherdog have something to talk about, everyone is talking. It continues to roll. If Conor wins it will be even more so.

WHen he loses then yeah, Sherdog will implode but then it will be back to boring normal, people asking what is your favourite fight etc. like there wasn't a million threads about it already in the archive history.

// I DON'T MEAN THAT FIGHTS WILL GET BORING or that Conor won't have interesting matchups. I mean from a promotional standpoint.

That's the UFC's problem over the last 5 or 6 years. They choose to hype up 3-4 fighters, instead of hyping up 5-6 fighters in each division.

The UFC is all about expanding the UFC, and not expanding MMA. That's why their is a recent shift in talent being transferred from UFC to Bellator.

Kind of unfortunate really.

I'm a big fan of Nate.

I'm conflicted.
I don't know who I want to win this fight, because you're right, the UFC landscape is just so much more exciting with Conor at the top.

It may have a little bit of an impact but people are forgetting that this fight is at 170 and it's virtually meaningless.

Conor is the 145 lb Champ, Nate isn't gonna make 145, even if he beats Conor he doesn't become a threat to the belt.

Nate isn't a Welterweight, he's a Lightweight, if Conor wins this doesn't say anything about his prospects at 170, remember Nate got ragdolled out of that weight by Rory.

The fight while featuring exceptional talent and guaranteed to produce fireworks is meaningless for the Featherweight and Welterweight division. The only thing this impacts is Conor's Lightweight aspirations but even then he still can go to 145 and defend the title.

Unless of course he's put on too much weight and can't make 145 anymore.

MMA fans don't like successful athletes that bring attention to the sport. They want MMA to remain marginal.

I'm a Conor fan man but the Hype is getting unreal, this can't end well.
If he loses a fight ;) we will have to see how it goes, he still has a belt.

If Nate wins his trash talk afterwards will be enough to give you the entertainment you want on these forums for months to come. Conor will still have big matches ahead of him ... Edgar .. Rematch with Aldo ... The hype will continue for him as long as he can get a win in his next match.

Plus at some point you will get to see Conor vs Diaz 2 that will have allot of back and forth as each fighter will have a full camp to prepare.

Conor losing would in fact be a blow to the UFC and sport in general (unlike when Rousey lost as she was bringing the wrong kind of attention/fans) but haters gonna hate.

It won't end well. He's going to eventually lose fighting top talent across 2 (or 3) weight divisions and all the retards will FINALLY be able to say I told you so, even though they've picked against him all along.

I love all you idiots that say the UFC is in trouble when a star dies. Guess what? A new star will rise.

There will always be new stars and new hype.

Boring.. with Diaz? nah.. Plus the Conor bullshit is getting old... all the Conor leg-humping is really pathetic.

Ronda lost and we are still laughing about her getting knocked out every day

He can still fight Frankie.

I agree, there are still big fights for him then, but it's not the same with him losing already and losing that aura or whatever you call it, swagger perhaps.

I think it will have a HUGE impact. It will also affect his confidence, his trashtalk, his bargaining power, everything. Look at what happened to Ronda. It won't happen to him especially that he will still have his belt, but his persona will take a huge blow if he loses, doesn't matter what weight or with who IMO.

Boring?

It's cage fighting...
&You're assumedly an mma fan...

Ehh, you know what I mean... not boring like "completely boring". I will still love the fights, but I also love the promotion side of things.

One star doesn't match the other. We had many stars but not single one of them had Conor's impact.
Sure, Wonderboy can be our next star if he stars knocking people out left and right, but it won't be the same kind of impact, if you know what I mean.

The only "talent" that the UFC lost to bellator is Benson. The rest of the guys are old and washed up
