I like the PFL signing for Frank well enough but it is so lame he isnt fighting sooner.

Cappelozza or Delija would be okay fights for him. It should be within the next few months, not six months after he gets beatdown in boxing.

I feel like there's a good chance. I think he was wearing that PFL hat and shirt to give a bit of a hint that this is a possibility.

It's a set 2 mil if he fights Francis, but there's no way he couldn't ask for way way more. PFL will pay him to. He could probably ask for a lot more than Frank and get it.

PFL aren't a great org, but they somehow keep going and giving out all these millions every year + normal fight purses, so they must have some serious financial backing.

They'd do whatever they could to get Jones to fight Frank.

They all have to wear those when they're cornering. Spivac was wearing it too when he was cornering for his wife. I think I recall Khabib wearing PFL gear too when someone on his team was fighting, can't remember who.

Oh, ok. I suppose that does make sense.

Thought Jon might have been having a little fun with it.

You understand Jones has been making more than 2 mil a fight for probably close to a decade right? Cormier has talked about this some, we know stars with less tenure and drawing power than make over 2m to headline a PPV. I don't have any exact numbers but it's basically a given, Jones made around 7m for the Gane fight, Jones made 2m upfront and a portion of the PPV for the first Cormier fight and the fact that, that did 900k buys he probably did around 7m for that too, I remember Cormier saying somewhere he made around 3m for that fight. Which is still STAGGERINGLY low, imagine 2 high profile boxers that are champs fighting in a PPV that deals a near million sales and they get 7m and 3 million, the UFC probably cleared 10m just off the cage and canvas sponsors haha.

But 2mil means nothing, remember the UFC offered NGannou 8m to fight Jones.

Yeh I understand mate. I know he makes way more off the UFC than 2 mil lol. That's why I said he can and will ask for way more than just the base 2 mil off PFL.

2 mil is more than the UFC have ever given him as just a base pay is more what I was getting at. I assume if he ever did fight in PFL it'd be on the PPV thing they're planning to do, so he'd get points for that as well.

I just think if he went to PFL, he'd be able to squeeze more out of them than he ever did from the UFC. Them having Jon in to fight Frank would be fucking huge for them. They'd bend over backwards for Jon.

It's all about if the people bankrolling the PFL see signing Jones as a giant investment that will pay off years down the line. Paying Jones and Francis probably close to 10m give or take to launch their PPV brand and build notoriety is risky and will most likely lose money, not even break even. But it could help the PFL eventually launch itself into a competitor with the UFC years down the road. The issue to me is Jones and NGannou are old and both probably have less than 3 fights in them each. It's not like signing some 27 year old GSP who's champ away from the UFC. Let's see, PFL is clearly trying to make colossal moves between signing Francis, being in the running to buy Bellator, the Jake Paul shit and now Jones is showing up wearing PFL merch.

My big concern is it always feels so short term and top heavy when these promotions try to level up. What happens if you build a weak foundation and a tall building? It collapses. Maybe they do buy Bellator and fill out their roster and divisions, have championship unification fights and even put NGannou vs Jones on a PPV headline. We are talking insane debt at this point, hundreds of millions, maybe close to a billion. If someone has that deep of pockets and that much of a vision, bless that because that along with a strong 5-10 year plan is the only way you could ever become a legitimate competitor to the UFC and even then, you'd be a clear 2nd place I'd imagine unless you struck serious magic.

Yeah, they needed to get him in the cage a lot sooner than early next year. The longer he's out of the cage the more of the shine wears off that UFC belt he walked away from. And if they let him get the brakes beaten off of his ass in a boxing ring before he ever fights for them... yikes. That would just be an awful business move from them.
