I think Gilbert Melendez is extremely overrated

I felt like he barely beat both Thompson and Masvidal, and Masvidal had a hand injury going into the fight. You can say Thompson is just underrated, but what about Game Bred? You don't see him popping up on any top 10 lists.

Do you remember when Nate Diaz was getting interviewed after like the Miller fight or something, and Nate said something like "I'm trying to be the best in this sport, but there is one who is above us all...." I thought he was going to say Jesus Christ or something, but intead he says "Gilbert El Nino Melendez". Seems like Nate is overrating him, but maybe he knows more than me.
 
i think hes a little overrated more like top 10 than top 5 but i guess we'll see once he joins the ufc. i guess if nate wins he'll be dropping to fw where assuming he can make weight would be top 5

you might need to rewatch the masvidal fight, gil won all 5 rounds pretty clearly. plus masvidal was on the defensive the entire time, making it hard for gil to get much offense going himself.

also, i feel masvidal is even more underrated than thomson. his record is doesnt really do him justice. many people felt he beat daley, he was smashing imada before getting caught in the last round and the rodrigo damm stoppage was one of the worst i've ever seen in mma. a mix of brain farts, bad luck and being overly passive has cost masvidal a few fights, but when he puts it together he looks like a worldbeater.

Masvidal is routinely considered one of the more underrated LWs in MMA. Did you see him easily beat Noons (recently after he had a fairly close fight with Nick Diaz)?
 
Wow. Guida got dominated/lopsided worse than I have ever seen. Ohh the irony. Jon Shorly is an idiot and makes mma judges look bad. Which is pretty unfortunate cause it seems like I hear that name a lot. Thanks, Ravden. :D
 
Thought Thompson did enough to win their legacy fight (and so did a judge iirc) but whatevs. They're all coming over, we'll find out soon enough. And Gil vs Bendo will be a great match when Nate loses :icon_chee
