After his fight with hall, no matter the result he should probably take the opportunity and say goodbye to the sport.

If he wins, great way to go out. If he loses, what else is there for him really?
Its a massive card, in the city he comes from, with huge crowd live and this card will be seen all over the world because of its quality. Basically a massive stage.

Its the perfect setting. If not now, im not sure when he thinks should happen. Its what makes the most sense.
Anyone else expecting the same?
Does a loss in 198 make any difference at this point on how you see his career if he decides to end it there?

I can see it happening. Good call.

He deserves so desperately to go out on a win.

I'll always admire anderson silva.

It crushed me when he pissed hot.
I hope you're right, ts... but fighters
like him earned the right to do what
they want with their body & skills.

Didn't he sign a 15-fight deal awhile back?

He made a bit under $700,000 to show against Bisping, plus whatever he's getting on the back end.

If the UFC gives him good matchups, he might stick around for awhile. Losing whatever he used to make in Nike money probably stung like a mofo too.

Kinda crazy that people were saying this if Silva beat Okami in Brazil back in the day.

Dont think he really needs to keep doing it for the money man. Dude is set.

I know it's unrealistic, but I'll be rooting for the "one last title run" win streak until the day he officially hangs 'em up.

I don't see Anderson retiring before he over stays a la Chuck Liddell. He's a fighter through and through. Unless he gets KOd in his next couple fights, he won't even consider it.

Even if you're set, the lure of more money is hard to pass up. Especially when you can't really retire for a few years and then come back if you need some cash later. He's already pretty damn old and every few months brings him closer to the end. This is the last small window of time where he can make some good money fighting.

Yep, this. He's gotta live for life--plus care for the fam--on what he makes right now, and on what he has saved. Anderson is no dummy.

lmfao

He won't retire until every dollar on his 600k per fight contract is used up. Give or take a devastating knockout

He still has 3 million more on that thing

He really needs to beat Hall though because I'm sure there are some clauses in that contract

Pretty much this, I think win or lose we will see Anderson fight atleast once more this year, imagine Silva/Sonnen 3 co mains Nate/Mcgregor 2, it would break records.

Very few fighters retire at the point when it's sensible, most retire past when it's a nobrainer.

I love Andy. I admit it, full blown Silva nutthugger till the end.

Maybe thats the plan - Retire next fight and inducted to HOF at UFC 200 - finish on high note so the drug test forgotten

Its basically locking him in the ufc no chance he 10 more let alone 15.

Isn't he fairly popular in Brazil. Not hard to imagine a mma related career earning good money.

Fuck that. Fighters should go out on their shield proving they've given everything they could. If they still have a fighters heart of course. If a fighter isn't in it mentally and wants a different career, by all means go do something else.

But retiring when you are still champ/top ten and still have the competitive fire, no way. Give yourself and your fans closure of knowing you did everything you could until your body couldn't keep up anymore. Pass the torch to the new guys and let them build a name, just as they did!

Chuck did it right. Just a little to long.
