I still like Islam's chances to set the LW defence record and go on a tear through WW

He may not be as good Khabib, but he really doesn't need to be better than Khabib to set the LW title defence record. Let's be honest, Khabib only stopped because he retired. Islam is going keep on going and if he is even 70% of Khabib he will.

Reasons why I think Islam is still going to smesh:

- Volk is the p4p #1 fighter in the UFC and a former WW, Islam took him down and took his back repeatedly, there was just no neck there to strangle. I had him winning 4 rounds to 1 on an off night. I disagree with the idea that he's not going to beast just because Volk is a monster.

- Are people already forgetting that Islam ran through LW's like Oliveira and Dober like they were nothing? He's also already beaten one of the best prospects in the division Arman.

- Islam looked weak and his body looked flat against Volk. He had a bad cut. Josh Thompson was eluding to this post fight. If anything I think he'll be strong as fuck and fully filled out at WW. Islam is a big boy. A bigger guy than Khabib and his body is more suited to WW. Looking at him standing next to Khamzat, and I don't see any insurmountable size difference that he can't overcome with superior striking technique, grappling technique, way better cardio, fight iq ect.

Bellator LHW champ against a off season bulked up Islam:

Belal M. says Islam dominated him

Nemkov would tear Islam in half. He even specified when asked about this "he was the smaller man, I don't remember but I'm sure I could get up if I wanted to, I was letting him work". We've seen Islam unable to wrestle Volk and Arman already now, he won't be able to Beneil either. We can end the myth that he would maul Usman or win an ADCC title, neither would ever happen.

—Nemkov only said that when he was on his back and let Islam get free top position he felt solid for the weight class. He even specified he never took him down or anything like that and was just giggling about letting him work.

-Belal didn’t even mention Islam in that clip and said nothing about being dominated by him. He just talks about Khabib as a coach and how disciplined the team is because they’re Muslim and because of his enforcement methods.

Last week when Islam was asked about moving up he said he had a hard time with welters training.

Do you even watch the videos you post? So many Sherbros have learning disabilities or are intentionally obtuse with their fanboying.

Belal has said many times that Islam crushed him.

Tons of interviews out there.

I think there's another one in this video:

https://www.sportsmanor.com/ufc-new...gomedov-as-he-was-laughing-while-mauling-him/

“Islam is nice. He’ll tell you what you need to do and you need to do this way. And, he’ll show me the technique with it. When Khabib’s on top of you, he’s like breaking me at every single point… and he’s like, ‘No brother. You just got to keep going.’, says Belal.

Further, Belal tells Rogan, “He’s just like laughing as he’s talking to the guys outside of the cage… And I’m feeling like, disrespected. But like, this is Khabib.” According to the 34-year-old, he was feeling almost disrespected by Khabib and the way he trained him. However, Belal realized that ‘The Eagle’ was simply trying to bring out more from him.

As such, Belal ‘Remember the Name’ Muhammad further explains the mentality of how grappling and wrestling work with Dagestani fighters. “They don’t want to lose any round in practice, they don’t want to lose any minute in grappling.” Additionally, Belal emphasizes the mentality and work ethic that they have, labeling it as the underlying cause of their success.

Alhamdulillah
Islam and khabib bless
Khamzat bless

I always found the LW division pretty weak. I mean, Alvarez, Conor, Poirier, Chandler, Oliveira, Gaethje etc are good, but compared to someone like Khabib they literally dont even had a punchers chance.

Fiziev, Arman,Gamrot and this next gen are also really good, but nothing special. Islam is not on Khabib’s level, but he could really get a big winning streak since the division is not that strong. I mean, imagine him vs a bum like Conor <45>

I watched he says nothing about Islam dominating him. He talks about situations in the context of training where he starts on his back (just like Nemkov).

You’re bending the context of what Nemkov and Belal are saying. Belal said when he starts on his back they pose issues (this happens in training) even with smaller fighters on guys a weight class bigger. He says Islam catches him on a choke when he’s trying to up but after 2 weeks he learned and it no longer happened.

Just because Islam can work on larger guys who start on their backs does not meant he’s capable of “dominating them” in real fights. They don’t start in their backs in real fights. Probably why Islam himself says he struggles with welters.

This is nonsensical posting at its finest, twisting what’s being said into something he himself is saying the opposite of. He likely does struggle with welters without head starts drilling. We seen him struggling with a featherweight, I believe him (Islam) when he says he struggles with 170lb guys. You’re changing what you’re hearing to what you want to hear. You’re not listening to what Nemkov and Belal or even Islam is saying. “If I twist this I can claim he can do well here”.

Belal “when I start from my back I like to flow and work off my back” “Khabib yells at us and wants us to force our way back to the feet, he says you’re losing the fight if someone’s on top of you” “when I was starting on my back and trying to get up instead of flowing Islam was catch me in a choke” “after 2 weeks I was able to escape to my feet and never had an issue. Islam helped teach me something for that one particular (very specific) situation.”

Sherbro “Islam dominates Belal”

Anyone with the comprehension skills of a 13 year old “Belal was getting caught during drills he intentionally was put at a disadvantaged starting position in to work on.”

That was just one fight. Styles make fights. For all we know it may be Islam’s toughest matchup at lightweight or maybe it gets easier after this point. No way of knowing. The one thing he has working against him is time. He’ll be 32 this year. Not sure how many fighters have dominated that weight class for an extended period at that age.

I don't get it, what's a strong division for you ? The contender not having a chance against one a the GOAT contender like Khabib is a strange criteria to define a good division.
I mean, LHW and MW are much more "competitive", any top 5 could take the belt, it doesn't makes them strong division.

There's about 20 videos of Belal saying Islam whooped on him.

I posted Islam taking down an Olympic MW Silver Medalist and you think any of the WW's are going to be immune to his takedowns?

Good luck with that.

WW's like Colby and Usman have never dealt with his tricky Judo throws, Sambo trips and constant pressure. What Islam will most likely go on to do will shock people, but it shouldn't.
