Look, I know Stipe has improved since his first fight against JDS, and KOd him in their second fight, but the version of JDS that we saw against Stipe even in their first fight seemed like a shell of himself compared to the one that rekd Carwin, Cro Cop, Mir, Struve, Nelson etc.
Obviously that was his first fight back from getting beaten down savagely by Cain for the second time. The deflating, soul-crushing damage and humiliation that he suffered at the hands of Cain made his confidence, reflexes, and chin far worse for the wear, and yet he still beat Stipe and outboxed him in the latter rounds while Stipe went 1/18 on takedown attempts. He also proved that his cardio was better than Stipe's on that night, and Stipe hasn't shown much improvement in that aspect since that fight.
I really believe that the slick boxing, stellar TDD, and great head movement of the prime JDS that tooled Carwin and KOd Cain would beat any version of Stipe.
