No, but he would damn sure do better than DDP and looking at the MW division it's entirely possible that due to Kamaru's style he is the toughest out for Khamzat.
 
Or they could give the TS to someone that has more than one win in four years.

Finish or blanket him for 5 rounds. Khamzat now knows he can fight at steady, 5-round pace instead of going berserk in the first couple of rounds. Meeting with TJ Dillashaw's "cardio supplement bro" probably helped him, too.
 
Buckley's is a WW and his TDD looked like a karate guy/kickboxer from UFC 1 against Usman until the last round. Usman needs to do a lot more than that for a MW title shot. Let's see him beat a few top MW contenders first.
 
Usman had no offense against Khamzat. People like to ignore Khamzat landed on his arm wrong and broke it in the first, which led to 2 slower rounds. Considering it's a 2 years later Usman and Khamzat actually gets to train for Usman, I'd expect the 1st round for 5 rounds or a finish.

Since they fought in 2023, Usman has only won a decision over Buckley. Guess Khamzat has only had 2 MW fights since, but he's looked more dominant. I get people want to see it because it was close, but Usman never had Khamzat in trouble. Last time people were talking about a potential rematch they kept yapping how Khamzat will gas in a 5 round fight and Usman gets a full training camp.

This fight only makes a little bit more sense than a Burns rematch.

All true, plus you should earn your title shots, which means Usman would need to be a few top MW contenders before he's even considered (maybe Fluffy, Strickland, etc.). Easier said than done and he's already 37. It's possible Usman would be a tougher fight for Khamzat than a lot of MWs (I'm not sure if that's true)....but that's been true many other times. I think MVP would be a tough fight for JDM at WW, but MVP would have to earn a title shot. He's already lost to Garry and most likely Shavkat, Brady, Belal and Usman would outwrestle him to a UD as well.

I guess you missed where I said I'd like to see them fight for five rounds, khamzat got the first two undoutably but usman was turning it up in the 3rd those next two rounds would have decisively been his

Nah Marty just a master and a vet and he hit the spike as soon as he felt the hands lock. I actually think he baited him to set up the spike. As a BJJ practitioner, I wouldn’t call that close. And guess what? It fucking worked bc rat lip let go. Add to that, rat lip gassed for his troubles, hence the conservative approach and zero attempts against DDP.

But you do you, man.

Usman doesn’t have knees… I’d say give it to Strickland. Not that he has a chance, but he’s just been begging to have Chimaev trap his arm and have his nuts in his face.

Hope he wears the USA onesie too… he’s married now. No need to keep up appearances.

I think this is a very silly idea.

A rematch of a fight where the guy who won has since improved and the guy who lost has since declined?

We're realistically probably going to get to see Khamzat fight another 2, maybe 3 times before he retires. Let's not waste one of those running this one back.

Instead of a 1 round fighter, he is a 10 round fighter now
