His recent tweet says:
I don't say hard luck, i say well done. It was a heck of a fight. A heck of a cheque. And a heck of a party afterwards. #YoungSuccess

That's not the attitude of a legend. If he continues down this path he will be a glorified Cowboy Cerrone. A fighter who highlights his ability to take many fights, who fights primarily for money to party that is not concerned with building a legacy. A fighter almost indifferent to losing.

This is totally contrary to what brought in fans like me to cheer for Conor. I want to watch someone who wants to build a legacy in the sport. Like Georges St-Pierre or Fedor. There are enough guys who show up to collect a paycheck and it's a total turn-off as a fight fan. You know that person isn't willing to go the extra mile and lay it all on the line out there.

Conor...don't get lost in a sea of fighters. You lost one fight that doesn't mean you can't still build a legacy. Just shut up and get back into the gym, switch some things up and come back smarter and stronger; win some fights and then go after Nate vs Conor 2.

If Conor keeps talking like this he solidifies his place as the flavour of the week. I was really hoping he had the attitude to go and become an all time great. Look at how a champion like GSP responds to his loss to Matt Hughes or Matt Serra. He didn't fall back and highlight that he made good money and got to party...it stung and he got back in the gym and became an all-time great.

relax Conor still starch anyone at FW or really anyone 5ft9 or below

Money is just one of his motivations, there's no problems there. Money, honor, legacy doesn't matter what, the important is that it keeps you going.

it is about the $, you scrub. you "Fans" wont be there when fighters are all long term brain damaged and living off social assistance. if a fighter makes any kind of decision based on what the fans will think, that fighter is a bigger fool than most.

the $ is the legacy. your admiration wont pay his families bills for years to come.

Sounds like he's trying to console himself...patting himself on the back...I'm sure he lost a lot of bargaining chip from that loss...
He really thought he could pull a Dreyfuss...

The money thing is part of his persona, which he uses to make more money. Yeah he wants to be one of the greats but if he gets a couple of more losses the hopes of that happening are over. He can still make millions of dollars, though.

He will always have fans,so long as he can keep his mind right. Vitor Belfort been dissapointing his fans for over a decade before he started with his TRT,and they never gave up on him. "its vitor!"
That wasnt just lack of wins, but actual dissapointing fights.

Other fighters will see what happened to conor and be more risk averse

If you watch his post fight interview with arial he was extraordinarily honest with himself

He is only 27. This loss will make him better

He's actually probably using that brag to cover his real feelings about the loss. No high level fighter just blows off a loss, especially a first loss while riding the crest of a hype wave.

I really hope Conor never loses this title!!

of course its gonna bother him a little, but thats anyone. I think he'll be allright though.

That's exactly what's going to happen.

I see him obliterating Frankie and Aldo for second time, then going up and beating whoever the LW champion is.

He'll cement his legacy as the GOAT of UFC.

But Fedor's Goatness will remain unmatched.

Naw, mang. Once you lose, you've peaked and you're a can. Do you even Sherdog, bro?

He went from unknown to champion in 3 years and is the highest paid UFC fighter to date so I doubt he cares that you think he's going down the wrong path.

probably made 10 million this fight... with 1.5 million ppv buys

On his way to flavor of the week. Frankie will obliterate this guy, if they let him fight him. Full camp Mendes finishes the job.

he said he wants to make his money and get out, so I'm not sure this all isn't a cash grab for him, more than it is a pursuit of greatness. Nothing wrong with that, he seems pretty business minded. Another poster had an interesting insight and said that Conor probably had it in the back of his mind that if he gets outclassed against Nate, he'll just check out quickly and get ready for UFC 200. I wouldn't be surprised if that's what happened. A business minded person is far sighted and always thinks a few steps ahead, so Conor was already plotting for UFC 200, thinking Lawler if he won, but he had to know he might be in over his head and if he lost, he'll still need to preserve himself for UFC 200. Hence the takedown and avoiding punishment by strikes with no real attempt at sub defense. Smart business move. On to the next paycheck.
