It's because he fights like a button masher wins playing video games. It was the opening feel out sequence of left kick to the head (x), left kick to the head(x), punch (o) and seeing Strickland respond like wtf that made me realize it. He's just literally mashing buttons and winning because button mashing is unstoppable.

Everyone hates Du Plessis? He's not my favorite fighter, but I'm definitely a fan. I'd love to see him smash chimaev, but I think it'll be quite the opposite if they finally face off.

If people actually hate him, I think it's because he's having the success that they wish Khamzat was having.

Khamzat was already getting hyped to the moon in 2020 which was 5 years ago now and during his long bouts of inactivity, a new contender has emerged, won the title, and defended it twice. Now DDP's the one positioned for a big champion vs champion fight while Khamzat still hasn't even fought for a belt.

Never underestimate the bitterness of a fanboy. Volkanovski never really caught on as a popular champion either despite defending often and being willing to fight anyone. How many of those haters were still bitter that Zabit didn't become the worldbeater with the funny beard they all wanted him to be?

Sherdog loves Fedor and they are always looking for the next Russian to hype. Remember in 2023 when Jones was afraid of Sergei? LOL
