Media "I might be dead right now"

Atleast the opponent had better sense than the blind ref
There should be some penalty on the refs if their incompetence causes harm to a competitor

I've seen a video of a russian dude assaulting a random dude by koing him out coud with a punch and then armbaring both his arms and breaking them both.

Reminded me of that

I've never really understood this dichotomy that seemingly half of Sherdog loves. All pro sports are entertainment. Now there is a thing called sports entertainment, but that is closely defined as athletic activities in which no actual competition takes place, ie pro wrestling or the Harlem Globetrotters or Smurfs on Ice or what have you.

If your point is that MMA as a whole is run poorly, I think many fans might agree. But saying it isn't a sport is silly.

But it lacks some elements that sport should have. Just few on top of my head.
- There is no clear ranking system, biggest issue, sport must be fair with strict rules
- Activities outside of the octagon matter, trash talk, popularity, etc.. (that is not part of sport)
- not equal opportunities and treatment for every competitor.
- Different rules for champion vs regular fight.
- ambiguous fight dates, cancellations, fighting interval not the same for everyone etc..
- no equal rewards for winning, private pays, not transparent, etc..

Some of these are problematic, since it is combat, but still, needs to be more fair.

i want Frank Colazzo to ref the Izzy Poatan rematch. that way when izzy is knocked unconscious and continues to get hit for 1-2 minutes no one can argue its too early of stoppage

sorry but his fucking corner should have jumped in or this shit regional fighter should have tapped earlier

scared your boyfriend might die...Typical Izzy fan. are you going to cry when he loses again?
No one thinks you are cool for not caring about this fighter who got injured because of a shitty ref. No one thinks you are cool for wanting Adesanya to get beaten to death.

Grow up. You sound 12.

And the ignore list continues to grow. Sherdog really does attract the worst kind of people.

man you are scared he is going to lose badly aren't you?

That type of reffing needs an immediate ban and fuck it, some criminal charges

I don't give a shit who wins. This thread is about a garbage ref who could have gotten a kid killed. You chose to make a post that revealed your character because you want people to think you are a tough guy.

Spoiler Alert: No one is impressed with your nonsense.

Now go to bed, it's past your bedtime.

Wait, I mean it's past MY bedtime. I'm getting too old for this shit

If you fire refs when they make mistakes, and all refs make mistakes sometimes, how are you going to have any experienced refs?

Mistakes happen, but this was more than just a mistake. It was more like twenty mistakes in a row.

It didn't look great, but while the commentators were screaming "He's out he's out" the guy was also visibly talking to the ref. Commentators constantly shout "he's out, he's out" these days including when a fighter is not out, so it's a bit of a tough situation. If you stopped a fight every time commentators screamed "He's out, he's out" then you're gonna get a whole bunch of fights stopped early.

There needs to be a mechanism for someone else to stop the fight. Cageside ref, doctor, etc. You have to wonder how long this buffoon would have let this go. Just incredible.

I like that idea. Like the ref having a buzzer or something and having a doctor ringside to buzz him. I could see that being problematic, but as an emergency it would be helpful.

When refs make a mistake like that, they should lose their job immediately. No room for mistakes when people's lives are on the line.
100%
If I can get my license revoked and have to do fucking programms just because I smoked a fucking Joint the day before then this guy should have to go through at least couple years of re-training and multiple test to see if he is able to do it again.
