Ya I only just learned recently that Potato's were imported to Europe from America in the 1690's-1770's and became the staple in places like Ireland, Poland, France, Russia etc so much so that I always assumed that potato's were native to Europe, when they weren't.

Turns out grains used for bread and turnips, cabbages etc were the staple before that. Even Vodka was made without potato's for a long time.

I cannot be sure of any images found online being truthful of ethnicity, so I won't try to pass it on. I just remember seeing them up there when I went a few times. They had a eurasian look, like some ladies from the steppes of eurasia, though slightly more caucasian looking, like the eyes. Horrible description, but that's what I can remember.

I think that most north american natives have french ancestry because of all the french traders and voyageurs that lived with them part of the year. Apparently they were very appreciated and the women were encouraged to have their offsprings.
