I hope you enjoyed the Edwards era

I mean, has there every been a bigger winning till he lost in a title fight than this??

Sonnen vs Silva 1.

So basically he didn’t get dominated for one round. Ok, got it. Usman’s cardio is unmatched and his relentless pace breaks guys. Leon couldn’t stop the grappling after the first then and I doubt he does it next time either. Usman was also fighting at high altitude.

I guess you didn’t realize Usman lives and trains in Denver? He and Rose both live and train there with Trevor. I thought everybody knew that. Elevation of Denver 5280 feet. Elevation where the fight was at in SLC 4200 feet. Elevation in Birmingham where Edwards lives and trains.. 459 feet. Elevation in London where the fight will be.. 36 feet.

No such advantage this time though. Not even home field (country). And Usman got brutally KTFO for the first time in his career. Edwards will have the confidence of knowing he can beat Usman this time. Usman may be a little trepidatious. To just assume that these things will have no effect is a little odd, but whatever.

Literally zero about the rematch is in common with the trilogy. It couldn’t be more different really.

I also think GSP fans were ecstatic at the Leon win. It protected GSP’s goat status for another decade. But if leon wins another 2 fights the idiots will start calling him goat

so he was winning until he lost…

…still only up 2 rounds if u want to get technical. And 5th round was a 10-0 round lol
Beating Edwards would have still left Usman 3 defences behind GSP. He was NEVER going to get to 9 in a row.

The only people ridiculous enough to be trying to call Usman the WW GOAT were anti-GSP. But even Silva fans weren’t cheering for Usman in that fight.

Silva fans were thanking the stars for Edwards. Usman would have tied Silva’s record 16 fight UFC winning streak had he won.

Things are rarely black and white. It’s just that a lot of people don’t see the big picture.

Sometimes I dont think its even anti gsp as its anti "the previous era"

newer fans love putting the nails in the coffin of what came before, because its easier, and they dont have to think as hard or follow the sport's past.

Everyone seems to forget that Usman was winning until he lost. If Usman hadn't been brutally knocked unconscious he would have won.
Strange though, eh? Two little letters I F. But such deep and varied ramifications.

How many UFC fighters were winning until they lost? Just since last August 20, until this past March 4. That’s 6 1/2 months.

Usman, Izzy, and Shevchenko (though it would probably have been 2-2 after 4) were winning on the official scorecards until they got finished. Those were title fights where a fairly long time defending champion lost.

Winning until they lost is a meme here.

NOBODY forgot, man. I literally told my gf about 20 seconds earlier that Usman was going to win 49-46 in a shitty disappointing fight.. Oh well. It is what it is.

BOOM!

Usman being champion again is no bueno for us fans who want excitement.

Grappling fans would say otherwise.

Fucking Muricans. Leon is going to send your boy packing. HS-D!

I don’t get why people think he can do it again. It was a Hail Mary, late in a fight he had all but lost. Even his own corner gave up on him. Usman beats him 9/10 times. It was a fluke. Edwards had a good first round and a Hail Mary late. Big deal.
His corner were the only ones who still believed in him going into the 5th

U can also say usman lost 1 round, crotch sniffed for 3 rounds, and got Ko’d the other round. So he was only up 3 rounds to 2
2? He was still losing the round he got a fluke shot in.

It was clear to all he was gonna lose 4 rounds. He had success in round 1 because Usman did not expect Edwards to wrestle with him. Once he adjusted, he was able to wall and stall like usual and control the fight. He got caught by a lucky shot in the end. I don’t think edwards does it again. I don’t think he showed he was better at all

It was short but enjoyable, sadly, we will now be back to the boring usman's era, be ready folks

Usman by lay and praying Edward towards the cage 25 minutes
The Edwards era is getting better all the time.

Two of the most enjoyable fights in recent memory for me. You need to read between the wiki-results sometimes. All is not black and white.
