So I live in Florida and my AC is broken at first it would go off and come back on but for the last week it’s just been consistently off
I had 5 window units 3 have died off since this started happening due to Rain effecting the plugs due to needing to plug them in in different areas to avoid power outages so I’m running chords across my house
My dogs are old as fuck and it’s way to hot for them I have a small bedroom I keep them in with its own working window unit but my Chihuahua has bad separation anxiety and just cries and barks all day compounding the situation
I went to go buy one on FB market place today found out it was a scam was going to buy it for 75 put 20 bucks in my truck to drive out there for them to not have it and try to get us to come inside and it seemed off so I left wasting my last dollars until the 20th I’m like 10 bucks away from just buying another unit (not even asking for money I’m sure I’ll make some more some way tomorrow just complaining) It seriously seems like I’m being attacked by evil. My thermostat is reading 91 it’s baking this is wild

I’m between jobs, attempting to help my parents who both don’t work. Been broke and depressed and addicted and finally cleaned up like two months ago now when I’m about to start this job everything goes to hell (I do run a little shop inside of a flea market but lately that’s been costing me money to run them plus just other bills like insurance/VA suspending my drivers license because I stopped paying car insurance there when I moved to Florida because I didn’t realize it was connected but apparently the states started supporting their license suspension decisions when I moved here)

I wish I could help. You can freeze a bowl (or a few) of ice to add to their water(s). I do that for these outdoor cats that I feed. But,. tomorrow, you should make the money that you can make. And be on a mission to get a job quickly. If you will have trouble traveling, try everything in walking distance. Once you get that job, things will fall into place. At that point,.with steady income, you can get the AC and figure out the next problem next week.

I think most pet stores allow you to bring your dog in. But being corporate ran I doubt there’s much else that can be done, unless you have a rouge employee that wants to help out of the kindness of themselves.

Also freezing water bottles and wrapping them in thin towels to lay down is good too. I use that for my bunnies.

Edit: dipping dogs paws in water and wetting behind their ears helps keep them cool.

Laying a damp cloth over them could be helpful too.
