How old are you?

Unless you are really really young, you won't be able to fix it.

You need to get orthopedic soles and do things that bother you while wearing them. Also, put them in all your shoes and wear them all the time. It will help with posture and back/hip/knee pain.

I don't skip. But I have never had pain in my feet, although they are as flat as they come. I could always run and jump really well, with no problems.

But I suspect that my knee and hip problems have something to do with them.

I have flat feet too, but have no probs. skipping (rope?)

For muay thai, I'm always barefoot, and skip rope on my toes, if that helps...

^^^ I'm 23, i have no knee problems, and no back problems, theres no sign of them either
my ankles get sore after a run or any long walks
i have been told to get those orthapedic slip things but the doctor has also said , your 23 you have flat feet, your always gonna have flat feet now
when i train i do it barefoot though so is there anything i can put on them then?
also when i try to skip on my toes or balls of my feet the middle of my foot aches, i sound like a girl but its not a muscle pain, cos i'd grin and bare that, it seems like a bone or tendon kind of pain, hard to explain

Well, with me, I never have pain in my feet, but the flat-footedness resulted in wrong posture which is probably somewhat to blame for knee injuries.

The doc is right -- you won't fix the flat feet. But those slips will ensure that your body has proper posture and stuff.

Are your feet really flat or just lower than normal? Flat, as in, the whole foot touches the ground on every step.

My best friend has flat feet and they give him problems when he runs and jumps. He wears some insoles in his shoes that help him out (ask a doctor what one would work) he also said he could have gotten sugery that would keep him off his feet for 6 months, but hes not a pro athlete or anything so he didnt wanna be laid up for 6 months as a kid or now that he works.

my feet aren't completely flat, they are curved when my feet are not on the fllor and flatten out when i stand on them so about 80-90% on the sole touches the floor

I thought tiny feet gave you better balance by forcing you to have better reflexes and motion.

theres two types of balance
corrective balance which is what the likes of roy jones jr has, it allows them to correct position and gain a good base quickly and theres core balance which is someone who can just plant there feet and be immovable, a sumo would have good core balance.
so if you pushed roy jones jr he would correct his positioning by moving his feet whereas a sumo of the same weight would just not move, they both have the same result, just different ways of doing things

its probably a muscle imbalance or something , im gonna assume u never used 2 walk on ur toes wen u were a kid? iv got a guy trainin with me who has the flattest feet iv ever seen and he doesnt have a problem skippin .

my feet sometimes cramp up were u described , maybe thats the cause? u gettin enuf electrolytes etc?

I've got fairly flat feet that didn't really start bothering me until sophomore year of high school playing football. The pain got so bad that even with getting my arches taped I was still in so much pain that I had to miss a few practices because I couldn't even jog. I got orthopedic (sp?) insoles custom made for my feet and I haven't had any problems since. Even barefoot I feel fine now. Been great for a long time.

your goal is to be on the balls of your feet grasshoppers
Do you know how painful that can be if you have flat feet?
The amount of muscle I have on my soles to compensate for having flat feet is disgusting. And I still tire out fast when I jump rope or stay on my balls.

What pain are you talking about?
I have flat feet, but I don't think I have any pain at all (besides after sparring lol)
Maybe I'm used to the pain or something?

Flat feeted people are more exposed to shin splints because the feet are over pronating, thus leading to excessive stress on the shins and pain. Because the feet are over pronating, the knees, hips and back are vulnerable, go figure. Therefore, when a flat feeted person walks on the pavement for hours, he will feel tired and angry. Back and feet are hurting and are tired.

Getting soles is a great idea, (I ought to do it too, damn my lazy ass) because they will prevent you from getting shin splints(not 100%). Walking, running, jumping should be no problem. With soles you would be able to walk the city for hours and hours. You could do it without too, but I would get angry and fastidious.

i have flat feet but honestly i've never used that or heard that excuse for why foot work is difficult.
