I have an issue with Dwight Howard

On top what already been stated, a softer league made it easier for a guy like Dwight to coast.

Howard, Rose, and Williams. Amazing starts to their careers that completely fell off
D rose i knew was going to fall off

D rose, stephon maurbary, steve francis, damon stoudamire. Explosive scorers but total me players. 6-2 ball centric guards who play no defense, only think about themselves and never pass dont win championships.

As Dwights career appears to be winding down I look back on it, and I have a problem with it.

You know, I am sure Dwight is a nice guy. He seems laid back, a real nice guy just from an outside perspective. But to me his career has been an absolute waste.

The greatest center of all time in my opinion is Kareem Abdul Jabbar. This guy Dwight Howard during his prime years was bigger, stronger, faster, could jump higher and was literally superior to Kareem in every way, shape and form in a physical way. AND STILL he never got any better, from the time he got into the league to where we are today.

He STILL has no idea how to post up. Never bothered to learn during his prime years and has no clue even today. He was a great defensive player but in all other aspects of his game he never got better, instead he simply relied on his psychical advantages. He never became the dominating post player that he should have been simply because he did not want to. He never showed the drive to be any better and now its too late.

I'm a L.A. Laker fan and I remember when the Lakers beat a young Dwight Howard's Orlando team in the finals. I remember saying " man this guy is young but I think he can go down as an all time great center. Hes literally bigger, faster, stronger and more athletic than ANYONE his size AND theres no centers even close to him that can challenge him." But he never got any better. And his career basically went downhill after the one great season in Orlando

I think he might be one of the biggest wastes of talent I have ever seen. Great defensive player for a few years. But nothing more.

It seems you thought way too much of Dwight Howard. He's much closer to a Ben Wallace 2.0 than he is to a Kareem .00012111 pile of shit.

First, he's not that big... not even 7'0, Kareem was a true tower, conservatively 7'1, more like 7'2 in liberal basketball measurements.

Second, Kareem was a fantastic basketball player, he had incredible touch and skill around the basket which is why he's the all time scoring leader. His skills even from his college days have always been in another universe than Howard.

Howard might as well have been bagging groceries and picked up basketball as a hobby, he's got the skill and touch of a shitty rec league player that no one likes to play with. He's just a physical specimen, almost a poor mans Shaq in his prime... but once his athleticism and motivation (because he's the most diminutive of mental midgets) he literally had nothing to fall back on and is little more than a shit-tier center that actually makes every team he's on worse.

Dwight sucks, and nobody likes him is my point.

First let me say, kareem was/is the greatest player to ever walk the earth. You may say Jordan was the best NBA player, but the best all around player was Kareem. You take his high school, college and pro career and he is the best ever.

Second, apparently some things are just to hard for even pro players to do. You would think with months off during each season that a player would go in and throw up 10000 jump shots a day and that by the next season his jumper will have improved. But seeing as how that hardly ever happens, apparently it isnt that easy. Or you would figure Shaq, dwight, etc would shoot 5000 free throws a day and improve their foul shooting.

So what is it. Are all these players just lazy and not putting in the work or is there a limit to their skills? Lebron did greatly improve his 3 point shooting this year, so did it take him 14 years to realize, het maybe I need to work on my shooting, or did it just take years to get better at it?

Dwight also suffers from the league changing around him. The need for a back to the basket low post player has pretty evaporated. Kevin Love is sort of suffering that right now in Cleveland, along with the fact that they are totally missuing him. Why Love is not in a continual pick and roll with kyrie or lebron is crazy to me. But I guess he clogs up the lane that way for two players that need space to get to the basket. You have taken a great p and r player and told him to go stand on the 3 point line and wait for us to throw you the ball. I'm still trying to figure out why they didnt play mozgof, thompson and love down low. Those guys would have gotten every offensive and dfensive rebound. I know they would have trouble against GS but against every other team they would have been unstoppable.

Towns, AD and booger are all bigmen whose teams havent done anyhting. Although it will be interesting to see AD and booger on the same team this year.

Howard going to work on his three point game in the summer though.

He is lazy as fuck, end of story. Why do you think Kobe rode him so hard? The dude has no work ethic.
