During the last few years I have probably seen hundreads of posters here claiming Cyborg is so good she walks through every single female fighter with ease and destroys them inside first round etc etc. Now she finally faces a 36 year old borderline top5 BW who was 1-3 in her last 4 and wins a clear but competitive decision, and people act like that was some spectacular achievement. 125lbs fighter beat Holm 49-46 on every scorecard and 135lbs Tate choked her out.

I have not seen a single person yet admitting Cyborg is not as good as he/she thought. There are tons of Shertards who now need to eat crow, man up.

Well, you are kinda right, but taking it a bit far.

I will admit that she isn’t fully dominant against every matchup.

She is capable of beating every fighter out there, however, unlike Holm, who has holes in her game.

Schevchenko, btw, is a fucking excellent fighter, and should not be used as an example of Holm being a poor striker or fighter.

As a longtime Cyborg hater I will admit she is a very good fighter, but not "special" like many people proclaimed. She actually IS like a female Wanderlei in that sense, looked like a world destroyer for a long time sometimes against questionable competition but not significantly better in reality than contemporaries like Arona, Chuck, Hendo and Tito.

She's just a normal elite WMMA fighter who looked better due to her aggressive style and a weak division.

Shevchenko is P4P the best female fighter, that should be obvious to everyone at this point. She had two coin flip fights against 135 champ who is a weightclass bigger than her.

That is pretty accurate.
Her, Schevchenko and Nunes, and I suppose maybe Rose, are the most well rounded women out there. For my money, Schevchenko is technically the best, but Cyborg is much more thrilling to watch.

Ok, so who beats her then? 'Not that good' only matters in a frame of comparison and we have yet to see a female fighter put Cyborg in danger.

She is elite because WMMA sucks and is in its infancy, meaning there are very few quality fighters overall and none in her weight class.

Cyborg's clinch game was weak, I doubt she can even execute a takedown and all she really does is counter and use her hulking frame. God WMMA is awful.

Shit game plan on Holly’s side. Wanted to punch the screen listening to the JW corner giving her shit advice in between rounds while Jason parillo gives Cyborg excellent technical strategy.

Lol, as I was writing my thoughts.

Technically the best, however, win or lose, Cyborg would have pressured Nunes and made it less of a coin flip. Aggression and risk taking counts when assessing a fighter.

Schevchenko won that fight, however, and I feel strongly about that.

Considering the size difference, yes, Schevchenko is the best. Put them all in a tourney at 140 and my money is on Cris, but it is no gimme, that is for sure.

Styles and matchups

Holly has the size to compete with Cyborg, she has a hell of a chin, and she uses footwork well to avoid excessive damage. The way she fought made it tough for Cyborg to finish her without taking unnecessary risks.

Also people make too much of a big deal out of Holly's losses:

Schevchenko is one of if not the best p4p female fighters, it was a competitive fight but Valentina won.

Holly was beating Meisha soundly but got caught in a choke when meisha went for broke. Holly went out on her shield, didn't quit.

It isn't always just as simple as "____ is a can and has always sucked"

I rip Cryborg all the time, but she dominated the last 3 rounds against a woman content to stick and move point fight all night. I don't think she's unbeatable, but it was a good performance against the best fighter she's faced in years, if not ever.

IMO Nunes punching power is underrated and Cyborgs overrated. I would give Cyborg maybe a slight edge, but only because of her cardio advantage and great chin. I think Nunes would outclass Cyborg on the feet the first round or so. She is a lot better striker people give her credit, especially compared to credit Cyborg gets.

This was a good example of styles make fights imo. I do like the way Cyborg adjusted without really changing what she's good at. Holm also looked like she was ready for the fight of her life and she flat out ran most of the night.

In wmma we should be glad to have her, she's one of the few that make wmma look like mens mma.

Maybe Nunes, or maybe no-one. She just isnt nearly as dominant against the elite people have always made it sound, thats my point.

What did you think she should have done differently? I was impressed with how she utilized her strength and the clinch to avoid damage when they got close. Stick and move seemed like her best option. It's just, once she tired a little and Cyborg got used to her movement, she started getting hit hard a lot. Her strategy had her one round from taking the win.

Has anyone watched Hardcore Henry?
Couldn't finish it. Half way through I was done. I liked Maniac, the 2012 version(I recommend it if you like first person movies) but Hardcore Henry got too repetitive for some reason.

Excellent thread. Plus, the dorks here are now saying that Cyborg would beat men... just like Rogan spoke about Ronda Rousey! Lol
