Personally, I feel like Khabib is a very good fighter, and the best lightweight fighter in the UFC right now, and likely smash Conor and what's his face, um, Ferguson.

However, I feel like what stands out to me from his game is his ability to transition from wrestling to throws, I guess in a way chain wrestling, you could call it, but showing some of judo, though I guess judo and wrestling it's a lot similar without a gi, especially when it comes to sambo, and his ability to keep people down when he takes them down and do some damage on top.

However, some people are talking about his grappling to be something that has never been seen. Problem with highly rating khabib like that for me is his lack of high-level wrestling pedigree competition. Compared to GSP, who was taking literally everyone down, with a good wrestling backgrounds, whose bread and butter was wrestling and taking people down and gnp, who has Khabib faced that were like that? Khabib struggled against tibabu and Healy, and arguablly lost that fight , whether Tibau was on special horsemeat or not

I know it's easy to hate on Chris Weidman, but he faced high level wrestlers, and he also, like GSP, took literally everyone down, similar to Jon Jones. But Khabib never really had a chance to prove himself like that.
For example, Gunnar was looking like a monster, and he is rightfully so, but when he faced off against Demian Maia, he got molested. So, what happens when Khabib faces off against some high level wrestlers on regular basis?

I know lots of fighters speak highly of his grappling, and it's rightfully so. But, thing is, I am sure he is very good, but match ups make fights. It's always easier to look like a beast depending on the match ups he gets.
For example, if he was in a middleweight division right now, which is pretty beastly at the moment, if he had to go up against, in a pound for pound sense, against Romero, Jacare, Weidman, Brunson, Kennedy, could he impose his game against them like he does now? I doubt that.

You say that now, but next time he fights, you'll be praising it like the rest of us.

Khabib is just making people look stupid, his last 2 have been fucking beat downs...

You're lucky enough just to get him into the octagon much less fight a wrestler.

I'm trying to think...are there any other wrestlers at the top of the LW divsion other than Kevin Lee?

Ya I'd like to see him fight someone who can wrestle back into him.he only wants to fight strikers who can't wrestle good.

You say his grappling is overrated, and then start talking about his takedowns. Those are different things. Are you talking about his positional control and transitions, or his clinch control and takedowns?

Khabib has great transitions in his takedowns. His mixture of wrestling and judo base throws guys off.

Khabib took Shalorus down 3 times when they fought. None of them were particularly pretty but Kamal has only been taken down 4 times in his entire career. Shalorus successfully qualified for the 2004 Olympics (but didn't compete) so he's a quality wrestler.

TS should watch wrestling if you want to see world class grapplers

His grappling is not underrated. The guy is 25-0 because of that grappling.

His wrestling, top control, and GnP are stellar.

His grappling is something special. No question about it.

The only better grappler is Damian mai

well, the rumors are that Khabib can go with Daniel Cormier. only 1 guy has outgrappled him and he's fought in the 2 biggest divisions.

One of the best in MMA no doubt, but claims that he could beat Cormier and GSP are kinda over the top

You do know that grappling isnt just wrestling alone? <KingstonFrown>

Hes wrestling a lot more than judo but using it when its open.

Without the gi top all the nogi judo throws are shown in wrestling. And in wrestling competition you see a lot of “judo” throws not work after Jr. High level. Its cause it can be all be stopped.
(Says a lot for WMMA and Rhondas hip toss’s....)

Khabib is there ragdolling dudes from any grappling discipline, wrestling the fizuk outta them

He apparently rag dolls luke in sparring sessions. His myth status comes a lot from the gym plus what he has done in the cage and as well in sambo. There's no reason to not think he's the best wrestling based grappler in mma right now
