I don't like the way Bobby is talking before this rematch

He wasn't right between the ears in the first fight. No issue with what he's saying.

Throughout these promos and interviews in the build up to this rematch he seems to be talking a lot about how he was emotional, how there was too much pressure, etc. Bobby strikes me as a very level headed person who's honest with himself so it's a bit strange that he's not attributing this loss to his technical mistakes more. Everything has been mainly about pressure and emotion from the content I've seen. Is this some type of ploy on his part to distract Izzy's team from the fact that he's made a lot of improvements and they'll be a lot of technical adjustments?

What do u experts think?

I'm guessing the pressure and emotion let to the technical mistakes so no need for him to mention them?

Started at 170, has losses against Court McGee, Stephen Thompson and a couple of names I don't recognize, Israel knocked him out in 2, over 30 retooling becomes more difficult. He is not in the elite category of Israel.
Wow what a shit take, his resume at MW is up there. Platinum clearly not worth it.

I think he doesn’t know how he wins this fight.

He doesn’t have a route to victory in his mind, he’s banking on coming into the fight freely and finding the opportunities as they come. But at the world championship level you have to take what’s yours, and he doesn’t actually know how to defeat Adesanya.

Robert is at his best when he can comfortably bounce at range and choose how he wants to approach the fight and setup his combinations. Izzy won’t let him do that, and it was the first time since WW that Robert couldn’t survive, let alone actually win.

His route to victory is to make this the most brutal fast paced engagement of his career, and In the midst of landing shots to the body and head, finding a way to stay close with a clinch and ultimately test the grappling of Adesanya like Jan did. But I don’t think it’s in his psyche to do that, he finds comfort in being relaxed and letting the fight come to him, but Adesanya will pick him apart from range and seal the door to victory before Robert can hope to change his mindset mid fight. We saw this recently from Colby in his rematch with Usman, by the time he could overcome his demons and get his head away from the fear of going into the fire, he was already down on the cards.

My prediction: Adesanya comes in a more experienced, a more confident, and a more prepared version from their previous fight, and shows no amount of mental preparation will change the outcome or the technical gap between them. Anyone can land a big punch with such small gloves, but nothing Robert has shown in his performances and his mindset, make me confident he’ll make it 5 rounds.

There's not much to talk about the fight. Im sure he's made improvements and has been working hard. The fight seemed like he was too aggressive and he got caught. Is he gonna say that he will fight safely from the outside? That he will wrestle him? That he will land this time?

Tf do you want him to say? It was probably true. Dizzy from a layoff, irritated by Izzy, and the biggest crowd in UFC history in his home country. Frankly, he fought emotional too, dashing in and out trying to take Izzy's head off. The ego thing was apparent too. He obviously saw himself as better than Gastelum, not realizing that you need to have a Gastelum chin to fight like he did. Rob needs to sell a narrative about why he can be better this time, and this is the one he's chosen.

I expect it to be a competitive five round affair, with Izzy edging him 48-47 on two scorecards and 49-46 on the third.

People should listen more to what the fighters have to say, instead of wanting the fighters to tell them the narrative they themselves have in their head.

Amazing point

Anyone that has ever been stopped before should no longer be considered elite
He may be elite but not quite in Israel's league. I mean does anyone really think he is going to outpoint Adesanya? So that leaves a knockout which I don't see him getting or a submission like an RNC - would love to see that actually Israel choked out.

Yeah maybe a bad take I don't know. I think the loss to Thompson is concerning when Israel is like Thompson+++. The very best don't have 4 or 5 blemishes on the resume. Look I'm a fan - I don't see how Robert wins but would love to see him choke out Israel.

DC knocked out Stipe in the first fight and went to lose the next two to Stipe. Just because you lose the first fight don't mean that they are better than you.

Just rewatched the fight and Whittaker was probably winning the first up until the final seconds. He was actually landing a lot of strikes, especially the jab. Even DC commented on it. You also see Whittaker being super aggressive. Hopefully he can rein it in some and use some wrestling.

Whittaker's going to run into a hook trying to get into range. Those lunges were the only way he could get inside izzy's reach

Whittaker is cringy but he can fight. Who knows how he will come out. His mistake in the first fight was trying to trade hooks with Israel, which is poor thinking with his reach and all, and what will likely happen again.
