I know he's a bad ass and would destroy most of the flyweights in the UFC and should be favored over any active flyweight but the guy never beat any of the two "real" 125 lb champs.

He didn't beat Cejudo, which isn't his fault. Cejudo wants more money (according to Dana) or is retired. It still makes it hard to get behind any new Flyweight Champ, fair or not. If he beat Mighty Mouse, who had the most incredible run at the top of that division, or maybe any UFC division, then I could overlook the fact he didn't beat Henry.

I know, my opinion means nothing, but it's a forum and I'm curious if other people are having the same difficult time taking him seriously as champ? It's like Jan as LHW champ after Jones moved up, but maybe worse, because at least Jan smoked the guy who gave Jon a tough fight and sent him packing.

What say you, Sherdoggers?

I take him seriously as the champ. He made me a fan following the brutalization of Benavidez, and quick work of Perez.

I like the idea of a berserker as a FLW champ.

Benavidez was a tough match up for anyone and Fig made him look like a noob. How can you not take him srly?

Cejudo and Mm also had subpar fighters they faced, so i don't see why Fig shouldn't be considered a real champ...
This... DJ or Henry( who I thought lost to DJ ...again) were never a " man amongst boys" .Deiveson has become that figure. Hes that good.
If Cejudo should come back , I won't think twice, I'd make a healthy wager on Figgy and I don't have to lay the lumber.

Just one mans opinion

He has solidified his position as undisputed flyweight champ.
Figueiredo is not near the world champs status Mighty Mouse or Cejudo were but it takes time.

Three title wins in a row, isn’t that the same number Khabib had?
He is not a paper champ.

The guy almost has it all, one touch KO power (rarity among midglets), very good striking, strong grappling, varied submission game, finishes fights, IMO the most exciting guy @125 because he takes gambles and actually tries to finish his opponents. Honestly what’s not to like...?

I support any flyweight champ who not only is finishing fights but finishing fights quickly. Because it means less time for me having to watch a flyweight title fight.
