I Can't Stop Escalating Conflicts With Aggressive Tweakers

So it's kinda a common occurrence now in most places. You see some homeless tweaker out in front of the gas station or stores, yelling shit at everyone and anyone who walks by. We are talking full blown tweaker scum with 24/7 bitter beer face.

These people for whatever reason feel comfortable insulting and threatening random people because of their bad trip. Most people do the right thing and ignore the threats and simply continue on their day.

But I take special offense to anyone trying to threaten or intimidate me. I always yell and insult them back. And if they would try anything I would have no qualms about pounding their raggedy asses into the asphalt. The thing about these people is someone getting into their shit immediately knocks them out of the drug delusion when they realize they are about to get the meth beat out of them and they always shut the fuck up. I consider it a public service to my fellow citizens who have to put up with that shit.

Now I realize it is dangerous to get into confrontations with random drug addicts on the street. But they initiate them, and I personally wouldn't want to live in a world where I have to duck my head and ignore some scumbag threatening me as I walk by.

Luckily I live in a nice area and I don't have to deal with it as much at home but I often work in the city and every day I see waves of this human filth.

Anyone else sick of this epidemic of bitter-beer faced tweakers EVERYWHERE now? Anyone else tell them to get a job and wash their ass when they start jawing?

I've never served in the military but I'm tall and I have good posture. Both of my parents are retired naval officers, uncle served in the Army and State Dept, but I never even did a single day of ROTC.

I've been saluted multiple times by homeless people. It has happened so many times I can't really put it on the thoughts of one isolated homeless vet. I can only assume they were all vets and my gait and posture reminded them of an officer. Once or twice they seemed to be doing it jokingly but many of the times it seemed truly sincere.

Each time it happens I just nod to them and say "At ease" as I pass.

You shouldn't be trying to hide from people on the sidewalk. You should be walking with your chin up, chest out, and shoulders back. You are a master of the fucking universe, not some schmuck that crosses the street to avoid a crazy homeless person.

I'm not talking about going and talking shit to random homeless people. I am talking about the drug addicts who get all hopped up on amphetamines and indiscriminately yell insults and threats to anyone who walks by the storefront they are posted in front of. Not sure where you live but I see them although the San Francisco bay area and greater Sacramento region. It is literally something I run into maybe 3-4 times a month.

I know them well I lived and worked in Santa Monica for years. The corner screaming/preaching types I've passed times beyond count.

Same strategy applies. Do not engage but do not avoid. Don't look down but don't make eye contact unless they engage you first. Just keep walking and ignore. If they pursue, turn and reply while still calmly walking away. Worst case scenario, touch em with the jab.

Most of the loud combative types will be loud and edgy in one place. They won't follow much on a crowded side walk. They're mad and want someone to be mad with them, if you let them rile you up, you just got real life trolled. Walk through and past calmly. If you work in one of the stores you can watch them try and fail to pick fights with a few people over time from the same spot. They usually won't stray far while in this state until they either 1) get bored and move on 2) get some beef rolling and get their nose bloodied 3) get police attention pushing them along.

They want others to share their agitation. Don't oblige them.

I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of the people I am talking about. Not some homeless dude sitting and minding his own business. Not people saluting me. I am talking about people like this:

Or people like this who act as neighborhood menaces. Keeping a woman and child locked in their house because she wants to freak the fuck out in the middle of the street.



I travel into the cities a lot for my work. I see people like this accosting the general public far too often. Police won't do anything beyond asking them to move along. Then they just go terrorize a new area.

Or maybe they will hop on the bus to get to the next city.
