Anyone buy it? I'm about 3 or so hours in. Good game if you like classic JRPGs. If you did buy this game maybe you could help me with some stuff. I could have swore I chose the option for voices at the beginning of the game but there is none other than Japanese talking of characters in battle. Also whats with all the chests I cant unlock?

Wow never heard of this. Looks great. As soon as I get back from vacation I'm hoping on this.

Yeah the story is cool and the magic system is like Materia in FF7 where you attach it to your accessory item.

Glad to hear the story is good. Researching the game seems a lot of people agree and it's the most important part of a JRPG next to the combat. Really don't understand how I missed this game. I love JRPGS and I'm always keeping a look out for new ones.

This makes me so happy, love the materia system in FFVII.

I was planning on getting this later and clear up some of my Gamefly backlog, but hearing so much good stuff about it that I'm going to pick it up early just to support the dev team. Gamefly games are pretty "meh" right now, so will probably return them and get something for the kid while I play this.

Yeah you can also craft the "materia" with materials that monsters drop.

Waiting on a few reviews and game length is before dropping money on it

Yeah, it looks like the gameplay of chrono trigger, the equipment system of ff7, and the characters and plot of ffx. Sounds good to me, but not 40 bucks good yet. It also may not have the replayability of chrono trigger, which was a high point for me.

And 20 hours is a bit short.

Only played a couple hours last night. Not sure how to unlock the chests. I'm guessing you can get keys or a item later that will let you get them unlock them. Perhaps they are there for a 2nd play through option? Still haven't figured out the Flux system. Apparently you're supposed to be able to customize your fluxs after battles, but I have been given that option yet... or I'm just not seeing it. I think the voice still operating in certain battles, even if you have them turned off, is a bug.

Whats a flux?

Is it the orb thing around the character's names? Cuz if it is I have no idea what to do when the orb fills up.

When the orb fills up, you'll see a little bright dot, and that means you can use a Momentum Attack. To use a MA just press square as your character attacks, and it provides a bonus attack based on the Orb you have equipped. You can stack up to 3 MA's, but I tend to just use them as their available. They can be used with Tech and Combo attacks as well.

Ah okay thanks

so a must buy or still trying to figure it out?

I only played 2 hours so far, but I don't think it's a "must buy". I don't mind spending $40 to support this type of game, but unless this genre is right up your alley, I would wait until it's $20 or $30.

Agreed with above poster. Was a must buy for me because I love JRPGs especially old school ones. If I wasn't so into the genre I'd wait until it was on sale.

If I wasn't 20 or so hours into FF7 at the moment I would have bought it first day. Been excited for this for awhile. Almost pre ordered it to get the 2 bonus themes but didn't want to gamble just in case the didn't turn out.

Glad it's getting mostly good reviews. I always like to have a turn based RPG on the go.

Well I'm officially stuck on a Boss in the Fridging Caves. Guy just one shots me like a bitch. All I can do is keep my crew alive, and he has like 3K health. I'm obviously missing something, but I've tried every strat I can think of.

Sounds like might need to level up some more?

embrace the grind

Grinding won't make a difference. This boss is legit broken. The only people I've seen beat him had to get a lucky singularity proc that essentially makes your characters invincible.
