This wasn't a plan to spread communism, but a strategy to subvert a hostile and superior foreign power for the benefit of the Soviets, who again, don't even exist anymore. A typical divide and conquer strategy that has existed since forever.

I said leftists THINK they are ushering in a far left utopia. When these corrupt democrat politicians rise to power and solidify globalism, Socialism won't even be part of the equation.
It will be a pure police state, and the complete opposite of socialism with a massive a wealth disparity.

It's still a decent look into the mind of a sociopath KGB type guy (for example a Vladimir Putin) and how they tend to view the world (many other leaders have stated that they simply cannot understand how Putin's mind works).

They don't really care one bit about anything except as far as how useful or useless something might be, to their interests. Everything else is bullshit to them, including morals, principles, religion, ideologies, patriotism. They are only concerned about such concepts as far as how much utility there is to them, in order to seize/maintain real-world power and influence. It had to do with Marxism in the sense that Marxism happened to be the tool that these people utilized at the time, but it could have been anything else, really. Nowadays it's Russian patriotism.

Marxism has no doubt been a tool utilized by sociopaths in order to grab power (as have been a number of other ideologies). Whether the ideology lends itself to being such a tool or not, the fact remains, that it has been used to that effect, and it has sullied its reputation, particularly in the countries which have resided under the rule of these sociopaths and their version of "Marxism".

Yes, just like the president shutting down companies for fact-checking him is actually about saving free speech, the president taking over colleges to make sure that they don't find out or teach things that he doesn't like would prevents dictatorship.
