I am an ex-Scientologist. (LONG read)

great thread, just helped me kill a couple hours of work. genuinly scary stuff!
 
If it wasn't for this thread, I would still have no idea about Scientology. But now I've spent many, many hours on Xenutv.com, and I feel like an expert already. I often day dream about what would I say if I ever encountered a Scientologist and if he asked me to take a Personality Test. I debate in my head whether if I was a work and told him off, if he'd attempt to have me fired.

I'm also a bit concerned about Jehovah's Witnesses. Unlike Scilons, I have met about half a dozen of them in real life. I even asked one out of a date before I knew she was one. She declined at first, but later agreed. Although that got fucked up and canceled anyways. I always think about her when I think of oppressive religions that take away our best human qualities to feel and love like normal people.

This is why Scientology is dying in the information age. Because they cannot keep such dark secrets, despite their excellent record of indoctrination to those that may know those secrets.

Not only do they not think there is anything wrong with these practices, they'd like to stand up together and "give a hand to LRH", applauding his madness and their own in doing the supposed "greater good" or, to put it in scilon terms, "the greatest good for the greatest number of dynamics". Which just ends up meaning "what's best for the church of scientology."

This is the basic premise that had me thinking that what I was doing, when working for them, was actually a good thing. It's why Randy thinks he's doing the right thing here, speaking in such obvious terms of propaganda. He really thinks it's the right thing to do.

Nothing could be further from the truth. But that doesn't mean he is, or I was, or they are - bad people.

And though there are certainly some sick and twisted sons of bitches within their ranks, many are some really great people who only wanted to give their lives to a higher purpose.

But now is the time when the educated can take a stand and pass along what they've learned. Now we can ALL put a stop to this madness, simply by saying "FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS BECOME SCIENTOLOGISTS." Just as you wouldn't let them shoot smack or drive wasted or jump out of a fuck'n aeroplane with no parachute. lol

I sure would like to hear you explanation of how its a brainwashing institution? Reading, writing and arithmetic along with history, sciences and the usual fare is taught in most schools that I'm aware of. Might as well say that all schools are brainwashing institutions.

Taught, but not required to remember most of it when we're done. I don't remember shit from high school. My U.S. history is weak, I don't know anything about biology, human anatomy, physics, or chemistry. I don't remember geometry and my algebra is pretty poor.

I'm an economics major :)

I don't need anyone telling me how I live. I am already a good person by nature, I don't need to be giving people money on how to live.

Wow, respect to you for your story and what you have gone through.
Ill admit Ive never really had a reason to know what scientology is but will read more about it to fill my own curiosity.

And forgive my ignorance please, but after hearing all these celebrities talk scientology, what is their role in it all ?
I apologize if it's been answered in here.
