There are already like 10 threads on Stylebender tonight so instead of talking about his potential as a fighter, I want to know the potential for *The Adesanya Hypetrain*
How crazy can we get with the hyperbole from Dana and Rogan? Will it approach Ngannou level or have they learned their lesson from not just 6 months ago?
Let's get ahead of the curve, let me know what ridiculous statements you see coming from UFC as they slobber over Israel in the coming weeks!

I heard he used to work in a sand mine and was homeless before becoming literal Rocky Balboa.

His hype potential is off the charts. I have been watching MMA since before it was called MMA, and am not easily impressed, but I was impressed tonight. Brad Tavares is legit, well-rounded, and tough as hell, and Adensanya made him look terrible.

Extremely impressive performance.

I heard back in the day he was kicking the side of Mt Krakatoa and caused it to blow.

You've been watching for much longer than me, so it's good to hear that I'm not crazy for being excited about his vast potential. I'm assuming his next fight will be on PPV - the marketing and hype will start to get out of control haha especially with how starved the UFC is for stars. Adesanya is built for the spotlight in the cage and out

In his 3rd fight in the UFC he totally outclassed the #8 guy and his TD defence is getting better and better with every fight. The Sky is the limit.

It's gonna get crazy.

Stop being so reasonable and level-headed
EDIT: you added "sky is the limit" before I noticed it in the quote. That's more like it!

All hyperbole and hype aside, I think its safe to say we all want to see him fight again.

He's got that aura about him. Potential champion for sure. He looked damn good against a tough Top 10 veteran gatekeeper. it's only his 3rd UFC fight as well.

I've heard that Israel's kicks are so good that a body kick will make Derrick Lewis have to go boo-boo

The hypetraine WON'T reach Ngannou levels, even though he's also a blakboi from Africa. The simple reason is he doesn't have amazing KO stoppages in the ufc (yet?) like Ngannou. What he has going for him is his elite striking and his mouth, and to really got a hypetrain going, he's going to have to beat another top 10 fughter, but someone more proven, like Branch or Brunson

On another note, I see him matching up with the top 10 breddy gud;

Whittaker - war, but Israel takes it in the 4th, he'll have an even bigger reach/height advantage than against Tavares, and he has better striking, also his height combined with his TD defens will negate Whittakers wrestling/JJ

Romero - I can see Israel picking him apart with his reach and technique, but Yoel can also end the fight with a missile anytime. Also, Romero is an elite wrestler, which imo gives him the overall advantage

Rockhold - Now, Luke is pretty similar in reach and height, has more power, but is technically much poorer than Israel. If they get into the clinch, Luke is much stronger and I see him taking him down and pounding him to a stoppage. But Israel can just slip n rip Rockhold. This is almost a 50-50, with a slight lean towards Adesanya, since the weight cut clearly degrades Rockhold's chin. At 205 I'm certain Rockhold takes this fairly easily

Weidman - Also an elite offensive wrester, 2 inches shorter than Izzy tho. Prime Weidman would take this, but those days are over. If Weidman decides to go at it Khabib style I see him winning. Still, a solid 50-50 matchup with a slight lean on Weidman

Gastelum - Huge reach/height advantage for Izzy, also more elite striking. Izzy takes this with some slight difficulty

Souza - Slight lean towards Izzy, but if Jacare scores a solid TD, it's over/

Brunson, Hall, etc - I see Izzy walking through them

I'm very intrigued to see Adesanya's ranking next week. I assume it will be 6/7
