Don’t take me wrong Dustin is a great fighter and seems like a great guy.

But what’s with all the hype around him and talking that he can beat Khabib? He pulled from a fight with Diaz. Then, Dustin got lucky that Ferguson refused to fight Max and he got an opportunity to become an interim champ. He did beat Max but its still was a very close fight it’s not like Poirier was so much better than Featherweight Holloway.

So where is all this hype coming from? Nobody talked about Poirier as a potential champ prior to his fight with Max. Now, after beating a Featherweight, he is all of a sudden has tools to beat Khabib?

what hype? almost everyone is favoring Khabib but Dustin does at least stand a chance

I’ve said it about 20 times this week.

He’s 13-2 in his last 15 fights, almost all of which have been against the best the UFC has to offer in one of the most competitive divisions in the UFC. Most of his fights have been finished decisively and without question as to who won the fight, and on top of that he just beat max Holloway, who up until the loss to Dustin, some folks were ready to throw into the GOAT discussion. After all of that, he’s an overwhelming under dog, and if you ask most people what his chances are they’ll laugh at you.

But he’s overrated? Right?

How dare people think a top fighter could possibly beat another top fighter in a fight

Are they insane?

Khabib is a -450 according to Vegas, so the hype is few and far between.

There is always going to be that person who says they think the underdog fighter will win so if by the longshot they do, they can troll people on here.

We need to work on our definition of "Hype".

Minus the ability to absorb punishment, offensive output and cardio, Dustin is a better fighter than Max Holloway in every way.

i think he has the bets shot besides tony atm in beating him

dustin has great cardio and is one of the toughest humans iv ever met he wont quit and is always dangerous he also has a un believable camp to prepare him for khabib having colby and all those other amazing wrestlers to take him down daily and working on it

khabib has an issue of keeping his hands down in fights i think thats bad vs a guy like dustin dustin has very crisp punches i think in the later rounds dustin will have a good shot at hurting him as khabib does slow down in championship rounds if the fight gets that far

Max is a goat at Featherweight. There is a good 4-5 lightweights who would beat him at 155 lbs.

A good 30-40% of Sherdog are picking him to beat Khabib..
Got a thread with a poll on this? I'd venture less than 25% of sherdog think Poirier is winning before seeing a poll.

Even 30% isn't very high but I still don't think it's that high.

Thats not what people were saying before Dustin made him look the way that he did.

OP is one of those journalists that are writing articles like “millennials are now getting piercings on their eyeballs”

From every angle Poirier is getting a KO. From all other angles Khabib is mauling a stand up striker. Poirier has the power to KO anyone in this division, however, Khabib is mathematically a very hard problem to solve..

But, of anyone can. Poirier should.

And here is the Wishful Prediction.. Poirier by T-KO.. Just to shut Arabs (Muslims)

I have many logical arguments about how poirer could win, but I still pick Khabib as the favorite

Is Poirier that powerful? We all know Holloway is extremely tough but still Poirier didn’t KO a Fetherweight.
