I think HW would be much more interesting if it were open weight with a body fat limit at something like 20%. Maybe 25% just to open the class, but someone like big baby who's body is flapping all around the cage shouldn't even be allowed. That would keep things more competitive and encourage the biggest weight to not simply be fat guys getting fat.

There are athletic advantages and disadvantages to having some body fat.

Mass = power.

But if too much of that mass is made up of muscle endurance becomes more difficult.

Combat sports are extremely grueling. The fact that a guy like Big Country can even survive 3-5 5 minute rounds itself dispels the myth that you can't be both fat and fit.

My weights:

135- BW
150- LW
170- WW
190- MW
220- LHW
300- HW

Mark Hunt would never fight again.

It's a bit tough to find a bunch of skilled, ripped and tall guys. Part of it obviously is demographics. Also it's really hard to weight 240lbs and up while being ripped under USADA.

Roy Nelson is really the exception to the rule. Most guys with that kind of body fat have a lot of lose floppy mass that he doesn't have.

25% body fat is hardly ripped.

Just an image to help people process what 25% looks like. I'm calling for basically the most basic body fat rules you could think of, basically don't be a fat piece of shit. Plus the open weight ends the nonsense of people complaining about it not being open weight.

No way that's 5-9%.

That would just encourage PEDs even more, its biologically impossible to be shredded at 250lb+ without roids, unless you're a giant like 6'5+

FW- 150
LW- 160
WW- 175
MW- 190
LHW- 210
Cruiserweight- 230
HW- 300

I would have

135
145
155
165
175
195
225
No limit

Although I guess with some elite HWs able to cut to 225, open weight could end up, being a talentless joke...
