Odd rankings IMO. Why is Reem ranked over Rothwell? Why is Hunt above Miocic? Why is Rothwell only #8 after being on a better run than most guys above him?

You misspelled lawl. I'm assuming you threw that in there because you can't help but to crack up after naming the first few heavyweights.

Because it actually takes into account a fighters entire career, not the last 18 months like ADHD addled Ufc fans

Maybe because he beat Werdum who's ranked #1, submitted Hunt who's ranked #4 and knocked out JDS who's ranked #5?
Werdum win was a long time ago, Hunt win was even longer ago.

Also, Rothwell beat Reem.

I thought this was for current rankings. In current rankings, recent accomplishments matter IMO.

If you want to take someone's entire career into account, that would work in an all time ranking. I don't see why a 5 year old win would matter in current rankings.

There is literally no argument for Rothwell to be ahead of Reem. Reem has beat better fighters recently and over the course of his career.

One head to head victory doesn't wipe all that away

Why is Cain, who hasn't won a fight in 3 years, still ranked 2, and JDS who's 1-1 in the same time still top 5?
Top 4 should be Werdum, Miocic, Overeem, Rothwell

I would argue that Rothwell has better recent wins.

Reem > Jds.
Barnett > Struve and Nelson.

Those ranking are garbage. Cain has one fight in three years and he lost it. Reem went to sleep against Ben. And stipe beat the piss out of hunt.

But those first two were a while ago. Plus he hasn't been eating horsemeat lately.

Please dont post Fightmatrix rankings. They dont mean shit

Reem > Jds.
Barnett > Struve and Nelson.

Jesus you really don't get it. Just because a fight happened over a year ago it doesn't mean it no longer matters.

You're purposefully stopping when a fight matters to favor Rothwell.

Basically you're saying anything longer than 18 months ago doesn't matter

Nah, JDS was comfortably higher ranked than Reem at the time of those respective fights. And Reem was 1-2 in his last 3 when Big Ben beat him, while JDS was 2-1 in his last 3 when Reem beat him.

It's true Struve and Nelson were both coming back from being merked by Hunto though, while Josh was at least off a win. That one's s toss up, since it's 2 against 1.

When you want to make a current ranking, why should 5 year old wins matter? It's about the current division, so recent performance weigh far more IMO. And there should be a cutoff point. Not sure it should be 18 months. Maybe 2 or 3 years or so. If you want to determine whos next in line for the title shot, or at what place someone currently is on the ladder, recent performances are the way tot go. Thats why people currently rank Conor above Aldo. But nobody would do that in an all time ranking.

How far back would you go for current rankings?

Yeah, head-to-head is overrated by many.

As if Aston Villa beating Arsenal right now would vault Aston Villa up the table and over Arsenal. Or Timberwolves beating Thunder or whatever American analogy you can think of. It's a pretty goofy way to think.

Recent body of work > any single fight.

Fair enough on JDS.

But for Rothwell you could add in Mitrione and Vera as well. Which would sway it in Rothwells favor again. Plus, the head to head result does matter when everything else is reasonably close.
