Huawei new chip raises the stakes on computer independence for China as China has poured in over 100 billion over the past two years to develop a superchip to rival Nvidia's offering to China. The H20 is a watered down but still very capable chip for processing AI workloads but Huawei new chip is all Chinese designed and can match or exceed the processing of Nvidia offerings. When Trump suggested that Nvidia install a software switch inside of the H20 that was the final straw for China. Nvidia seemed to have given up efforts to develop new generation of chips instead just tweak their current offerings and selling as many as they can sell.

Ascend 950 AI currently reached parity with Hopper
Ascend 960 will meet performance wise with Blackwell
Ascend 970 will to Rubin+ and that got everyone on Nvidia side freaked.

Game on as people would say.

China goal to build a super cluster that will make them the dominate Country to seeking AGI.

Oh G1 makes Optimus look like a 100 year old man

You know they stole the technology. That's how China rolls. They have no respect for intellectual property or patents.

Microchips are one of the only things China is still behind.
It'll be a interesting rest of the century seeing US trying and failing to deal with them

So how do you explain that China is the world's #1 top filer of international patent applications via WIPO?

Lot of folks are living in the past when talking about China.

people minds didnt adjust to what China is now. Do they steal things when they can? yes. Most advanced countries do
But they also make new and better things all the time. When most of profits are redirected by the government to R&D while you have a very competitive educational system with millions of people... shit tends to get done

Funny I knew that people would bring this up and that's why I posted UniTree G1 video who did they steal that technology from certainly not Tesla? The Tesla bot moves like a hundred year old man fumbling around. I am sure many who have migrated back to China since the purge started are now contributing to China. But what was found out by DeepSeek R1 that was open source they mean OpenAI could only find one section of code they claimed was taken from their model. Do people really think significant damage by closing our boarder would not be the end result? Students at UCLA created new AI models they trained on DeepSeek R1. They where very small models that could run on Raspberry Pie focusing on specific training models. They could not do that with closed source models like Lamma 3 at the time. China DeepSeek democratized LLM's before the US did and that was the reason why China and DeepSeek released their models for free. We are creating our own worse problem by damaging students by removing their VISA status. Many dream about coming here and starting a business.

This was a quote on Jimmy Kimmel page for the second night.
"Watching from Hong Kong. I used to admire USA's democracy. What happened in the previous 8 months is a nightmare."
