Just curious I've seen people saying they lived in different countries for time being and what not. Although I like my job, I am very curious about this and know this would be the best time in my life to do so. I see a lot of these sponsorship programs but they seem lame and I'm getting too old (24) for that shit. Any stories would be cool to hear

It's cheap and easy living in a third world country as long as you don't mind the explosive diarrhea about once a month.

I lived in Mexico for a year due to some bad circumstances. Shit was terrible. Always had to keep a gun on me in the streets. I was in th legit slums imagininf I was in cancoon

Get your rich uncle [Sam] to pay for it.

Join the military
Travel the world
Meet interesting people and kill them.

Very easily my family has an assload of land, animals, money, and a big ass house in Mexico.

You spelled Cancún wrong.

Wish I had a chance to visit. I was living in ciudad Juarez
I was in juarez getting my mom her U.S citizenship with a "better call Saul" sleazy Ace lawyer, the cartel bombed the hotel next to us cost 10 grand for two weeks.

Juarez was good when I was there from 1998-2005, then it went to shit like most of Mexico did at that time. Machine gun nests scattered around make me feel uneasy. Lots of fun times, though, and always some burritos to take back home to El Paso at the end of the night.

OP, lots of expats teach English or work remotely in jobs like programming and coding. Other's work seasonal jobs like fishing or trucking and split time in two countries. Most just bring stacks of cash and try to last as long as they can. Myself, I trade the futures markets online and while I'm barely poverty level by US standards, I make more than enough to live comfortably in Philippines. It's an OK life, and much better than what most guys my age (47) are living in the US :)

If you are young and from a Commonwealth country it's easy to go work in other Commonwealth countries. But I'm guessing that's not your situation

lived in Germany for three years, although it was on the government's dime if you feel me. it was awesome, much better than the year i spent in Afghanistan haha

that being said, i knew americans that worked on Base, that were command sponsored by their employers, not their due to being in the military....

People who do this often (say multiple countries) take whatever jobs they can get. A lot teach, or move to teach english. Or they have a degree and job in finance or some tech field and apply through gov't sponsored programs which target westerners (North Americans, Western Europeans) often native English speakers. Or they focus on private sector which has obviously more opportunities.

Also, lol at 24 being old. If you think you are old now and thus don't have time to do the shit you really want to then when will you ever?

And of course there are the some rare jobs which allow a person the opportunity to move where ever they want in the world more or less.

You are not to old for that. You are probably the perfect age. Although at 23 I was starting my career. I may have done shit differently if I knew then what I know now.

I've been very lucky, I've worked/lived in about 4o countries over the last 20 or so years. Part of my work is being a tour drummer, so I'd do 3-6 month contracts in varies places. I'd play in cover acts hired by 5 star hotels, we'd play in the nightclubs attached. The deal is cool: play (usually) 6 nights a week, but only for 4 hours a night, so tons of down time, I'd get my own room in the hotel, 3 meals a day, they'd do my laundry, hotel paid for any taxes/visas, flights paid for, etc etc. So I banked all the earnings (which was in US $, I'm Canadian, so make extra on the exchange). Just a fucking blast, free booze, tons of pussy...I can't do it nearly as much these days, I own a music school now, it keeps me around more. I still sneak off for a contract from time to time...and 24 is old? Wtf.

I moved overseas at your age. 24 isnt old
