How yall feel about Mackenzie Dern getting an undisputed title shot? -> On 2 fight "streak" 4-4 in last 8.

Haven't seen barely any talk about this fight at all.

This strikes me as one of the more handpicked scenarios possible.

Dern is 1-2 vs current top 5.
She is skipping over 2 girls higher ranked that beat her.

2 fight "win streak"
4-4 since 2021.

The title gets vacated, based on New policy that champs pursuing 2nd belt must vacate,
Magically Dern gets a shot vs a 37 year old she already beat

Seems mighty convenient and opportunistic to me.

There isn't much money in wmma, so when theres the opportunity to put an attractive women in a title fight that might not detract a ton from the bottom line, you do it. Fighters should take fights that pay the most and the promotion should make them. Its prize fighting

Fair enough. I'm not mad... just sort of curious.

The fact that there is a title fight in 3 days and I didn't see any threads about it was already a fairly strong indicator that no one gives a fuck.... which is fine..

I’m not a WMMA detractor but it doesn’t look good when one of the challengers admits she probably wouldn’t have been ready for the now vacating champ. Although I appreciate the honesty.
 
She stands out because her ass looks good in the UFC shorts.

That division is thin right now, so not surprising. At least they can have a champ with a good ass.

There was never gonna be a better opportunity to get her a belt. Virna earned her spot with the win streak, but stylistically she's perfect for Dern. No striking threat, a grappler that was scared shitless of Dern's grappling the first time and who's only path to victory is probably cage hugging because she's the inferior striker and grappler. We know damn well with how each of them look that the UFC is praying that Dern beats her again.
 
Hopefully Virna wins or Mackenzie's fat ass comes in overweight. For the 4th time.
 
It's bullshit but I don't care anymore. The division has been a total mess since Joanna retired; endless rematches, fighters squatting on their ranks, an inactive champ, and some seriously retarded matchmaking too.

What they really need to do is take the top 16 fighters and run a tournament to crown the new champ. Whoever wins will actually be legit and it'll help sort out the rankings at the same time.
 
Don't really care. Very few title shots are earned these days so why should this one be any different?

The two girls above dern that she lost to and is skipping over are two girls that JUST lost to Virna. Virna undeniably is the top contender and deserves to fight for the belt. The challenger isn't going to be one of those two girls that she just beat. The only other option would be tatiana suarez vs. virna which I actually wouldn't mind, but the timing was off and given the fact that suarez is one fight removed from being embarassed in a title fight, I can't complain that they gave the title shot to Dern.

That said, it's a shitty fight. We saw it already and it wasn't spectacular. That division needs new blood to break through and fast.
