Weidman hasn't looked very good in a while, despite beating Gastelum, he got dropped and hurt badly.

He obviously doesn't deserve a title shot right now, maybe he should fight Jacare first.

But I think Whittaker would knock him out in two rounds, Whittaker has the best boxing and footwork in the division and never stands still enough for you to hit him.

Weidman's striking is very robotic (not as robotic as Jacare's) and isn't very comfortable on the feet now, since getting knocked out.

Weidman has good takedowns (understatement) but he would have to catch Whittaker first and wouldn't get him by just marching forward at him.

Thoughts?

At the moment I don't think anyone is beating Whittaker

We'll see I guess but man has he developed into a killler and a tough style to beat

Dude, you'll never get a real discussion about Chris Weidman, in a forum filled with Anderson Silva's crazy fanbase that had their dreams destroyed by Weidman back on July 6th, 2013. Tons still haven't got over it 4.5 years later.

Tough fight for both guys. Whittaker looks great right now so I'd definitely favor him but I think Weidman can beat any MW in the world.

Whittaker cracks him often and early. All depends if weidman survives or not

Weidman is forever my boy but he just hasn't looked great enough lately to suggest that he can beat Whittaker.

Weidman will be winning against Whittaker untill all of a sudden losing by devastating fashion. As per Weidman fanboys.

You talking about the Whitaker that steamrolled Jacare and shrugged off Yoel?

Chris get finished with strikes buhhhh

Jacare was tossing Whittaker around until his pectoral tore. If Weidman gets his hands on Whitaker it could be a long night for Bobby Knuckles.

Weidman took Romero and Mousasi down. He can take Whittaker down too.
The question: is Whittaker gonna be able to get back to his feet as quickly as he did against Souza and Romero? And Weidman is the kind of guy that you need to put him away, otherwise he´s gonna keep coming and putting that striking + wrestling type of pressure very hard to deal with. And his top game seems legit.

Whitaker has nothing for Weidman

Weidman gets brutally finished.

Weidman feels sort of shot to me, I got Whittaker second round KO.

Weidman still has the ability to be a champion. He is tough as nails and has in iron chin.

He got flash Koed by a flying knee against Romero .. Going into the 3rd round the fight was 1-1 with the 3rd round deciding it.. The he ate that knee..... and lost to Rockhold after throwing that wonderful, beautiful technical spin kick.
Now I'm a Weidman fan so I am a little biased but...

He is still at the top IMO. A level above Jacare. The top 5 at MW could all beat eachother on any given night.
And if he were to rematch Rockhold and Romero I wouldnt necessarily bet against him.

Now Whittaker vs Weidman.. Man thats a tough one. 51/49... I would lean towards Bobby Knuckles.

1. Whittaker
2. Rockhold
3. Weidman/Romero Tie
4. Jacare

It would go very well for people that hate Chris Weidman.

Weidman barely squeaked by Gastellum. It's hard to see him getting through Whittaker. Stranger things have happened, though.

Whittaker by more diverse striking arsenal and superior athleticism

Weidman took Romero and Mousasi down. He can take Whittaker down too.

He did indeed take both aforementioned fighters down, who then both scrambled his brain in brutal fashion not long after. If the Moose can get back up, I don't see why Whitaker can't. Also, the fact that Weidman has been brutalized twice now, doesn't do wonders for his durability.

Weidman Prime faded so fast, its sad, Gastelum made him look very vulnerable almost finish him, he does not have the same chin.
if you count the three loses by rockhold, romero and Mousasi, at this point, I dont think he have a chanse for the top 5, he will be now a gate keeper for prospects.
Rockhold, Romero, Jacare and Whittaker will eat him alive, maybe brunson will be a good match for him, but he will never be a champion again, he is just a shadow of himself.
