How would GSP vs. Chimaev go?

People weren't really "chain-wrestling" back in GSPs day, but I suspect that GSP would've seen this coming & cut it off by training "Chain TDD"... unlike DDP who somehow forgot to train for chain wrestling.

I'm pretty down on DDP atm for missing what waz right before his eyez to be seen, & he he didn't work on it... but that said, perhaps this will finally wake him oop.

No way DDP gets an immediate shot now & so he'll have to work his way back. This will give him plenty of time to work on it.

If DDP corrects his "chain TDD" that fight looks a whole lot different. In this one Khamzat literally to teh 2nd or 3rd in teh chain. It's ridiculous that DDP looked so lost that he didn't see that coming... but hope for teh future. His ego will now force him to learn it.

At WW, I'd favor GSP.

At MW, I'd favor Khamzat.

GSP was great at WW, but he was too small for MW and he struggled a lot more against Bisping than a lot of folks thought he would.

I wouldn't mind watching these two in their primes just in a wrestling match alone. Would be very entertaining
Straight up wrestling match for 6 minutes?
Its not even a contest,Khamzat owns him

At 170 Khamzat 's stamina is not the same. As long as GSP survives the first round he takes over and finishes a very gassed Khamzat.

How would GSP vs. Chimaev go?
Step 1 - GSP shoots in for a double leg

Step 2 - Chimaev shoots in for a body lock

Step 3 - a loud, cartoonish "CLUNK!" is heard as they headbutt each other

Step 4 - they both see stars (again like in cartoons), shake it off, and proceed to step 1

I don't understand. Sherdogers shits on decision fighters everytime but GSP is the most beloved fighter on that board.

How would GSP win? Khamzat is bigger and has better wrestling. GSP has no submission threat and on the feet Khamzat has more power and without the TD threat GSP’s striking isn’t all that great. Khamzat would dominate him on the ground and would submit him eventually

He'd stuff a lot of khamzat's takedowns, get up from the ones he doesn't stuff, make khamzat's work, and jab his face off any time they're on the feet, while also landing his own blast doubles when khamzat pressures.

I'm sorry, but no welterweight in the world is dominating prime GSP with grappling

If GSP survives the first 2 rounds - he does what many on Sherdog hoped DDP would have done - sprawled and outstruck a tired Khamzat. But IDK - Khamzat's wrestling is something very special.

GSP is also a much smaller guy I think - he ballooned up to get to MW, but he probably would have had an easier time getting to 155 than he did to MW

The lack of KO in Khamzat’s hands after the hug fest on Saturday I’m confident GSP in his prime takes the cake.

Khamzat wins at 185 just because he is so much bigger. GSP wins at 170. He has the ground control of Khamzat with better striking; definitely the more skilled of the two.

I think GSP wins. I don't think it would be lopsided, GSP probably wins 3-2 or 4-1.

I don't think Khamzat gets up if GSP takes him down either. DPP took him down and had his way with him a bit.

Lol, you just admitted that you don’t analyse shit and just let your biases guide your opinion.

There are WW’s who could dominate GSP with grappling. Khamzat, Brady and Burns have far better BJJ than GSP. Khamzat and Brady are also better wrestlers.

The only argument you could’ve made before is that GSP would win by cardio if it’s 5 rounds. Khamzat proved that’s not an issue anymore.

Khamzat has more power, better wrestling, better submissions, he’s also bigger and stronger. He’s undefeated while GSP has been TKO’ed and submitted. Khamzat is also twice as likely to finish his opponent.

Most likely it would’ve been a 2nd or 3rd round submission win for Khamzat

Nah. I think you’re drastically underestimating GSP’s BJJ game, which is very high level. To say he’s not a submission threat is nonsense. Khamzat does have size on him, it’s certainly possible that he outwrestles GSP. I think more likely is the fight looks a lot like Khamzat-Usman except Khamzat gets touched up on the feet a lot worse because GSP is a much better striker than Usman.

Strong disagree with a lot of what you said, but it's pointless to argue over a fantasy match. Khamzat is great. I'm looking forward to seeing him build a legacy.
