They fought in the same weight classes (170 and 185).

GSP is the last good grappler who held MW title, so let's say they fight at MW: how would his hypothetical fight with Chimaev go, in your opinion?

Do you think the 185 class favors Chimaev more, while 170 favors GSP, or do you believe one guy beats up the other regardless of weight?

On that note, would GSP perform better than Burns at 170 or Usman at 185, or he gets smashed?

The only WW in history with a shot against Khamzat. GSP would easily be his toughest fight out of the guys he fought.

Khamzat is also the only guy I wouldn't feel confident about GSP beating either.

GPS gets P.Diddied so bad that even Justin Bieber will feel sad for him and offer some lube
GSP isn't DDP. He's much better where it matters when fighting someone like Khamzat. Prime GSP would have done the same thing to DDP lol

Khamzat's cardio at 170 was bad and his chin affected from the weight cut.
Burns knocked him down and wobbled him once more. Burns has more power than GSP though.

So he had problems with the 2 good grapplers in Usman and Burns.
While GSP dealt with Koscheck, Maia, Fitch, Shields, Hughes, Penn

At 185, well need to see more fights of Khamzat. The Usman version obviously loses. But he has a good size advantage.

Pro Khamzat: He is 31 with only 15 fights, so he will improve for a few more years.

GSP in his prime would do better than Burns or Usman given that he was a better fighter than either of them. However, one of the things that made GSP special was mixing the take down with his striking. I don't think Chimaev would be bothered by GSP's wrestling particularly as the bigger fighter. GSP still has the better striking, but I think Chimaev size and grappling would eventually empty the GSP gas tank despite his excellent cardio history. GSP would have a chance, but the odds would favor Chimaev.

I would have loved to have seen that fight, GSP is much more dynamic than Khamzat in the striking, they both have great wrestling and control on the ground. I thank Khamzat is physically stronger, but GSP is faster and much more agile. Would have been great to watch. I'd say a close decision win for GSP 3-2.

GSP would tap only thinking to be crucifixed by Khamzat

Imagine the danger to be exposed to a potential face-changing rain of elbow from a beast like Chimaev

It could depend on how lubricated GSP is for the fight

Khamzat who struggled against Usman und LW Burns is not outwrestling GSP who didn't ever get outgrappled or consistently controlled by the very best wrestlers of his time (Hendricks, Kos, Fitch, Shields) . And on the feet GSP wins on points.

True, Khamzat is not as good as the great Matt Serra.

GSP is the most proven fighter of all time, especially against wrestlers.

GSP wins that at 170lbs

Khamzat could win it at 185lbs though.

Khamzat would dominate and it wouldn’t be even close

I wouldn't mind watching these two in their primes just in a wrestling match alone. Would be very entertaining

How would GSP win? Khamzat is bigger and has better wrestling. GSP has no submission threat and on the feet Khamzat has more power and without the TD threat GSP’s striking isn’t all that great. Khamzat would dominate him on the ground and would submit him eventually
