How would a Takanori Gomi in his prime vs. a present day Conor MgGregor fight play out?

It would be an awesome fight in my opinion and could really go either way, what do you think.

McGregor would KO Gomi.

It would be fun while it lasted and Conor would almost certainly knock him out.

if it's the same Gomi that beat Pulver, Azeredo 2x, Kawajiri, Sakurai, Ishida, Ralph Gracie, Ludwig and gave Nick Diaz open face surgery then Gomi via KO. Gomi in his prime was a great defensive and offensive wrestler who thrived on thunderous striking power in his hands and knees.

you truly have not seen Gomi in his prime and on his tear if you say things like Conor would beat him. Gomi is also a deceptively huge LW. Gomi had serious dynamite in his hands. I get it's all hypothetical but there's also a reality.

What weight and rules?

Pride lw was 161 lbs. At that weight I think I give Gomi the edge. Gomi was impossible to KO and had legit wrestling and relentless pressure.

Prime gomi would take him down and pound him out!!!

PRIDE fighters in their prime would literally make any fighter today quit. Guys pull out of fights now if they don't feel 100%

I think Conor would catch him on the feet but on the ground Gomi would beat him.

Wow....would've been a great fight!!
Prime BJ vs Conor would too!

I think Gomi would KO Connor. Gomi in his prime had a ridiculous chin and ridiculous punching power, even more than Connor. But it's hard to say because Connor has better footwork and Gomi has better wrestling.

I'd take Gomi to win. The guy had serious power, a good chin and great wrestling. On top of that he was quite a bit bigger than McGregor.

McGregor comes at Gomi like he did Diaz - then Gomi KO's him. Gomi was no brainless slugger in his prime - and he had a great chin.

McGregor uses his range, than it could be a long night for Gomi.

That would be a great fight but i think Bushido Gomi takes his head clean off.

Could have gone either way. Conor is technicallymore sound than Gomi but Gomi has more KO power and had a granite chin in his prime. Gomi back then also had a fantastic top game and I dont think Conor could sub him if he got on top. I would favor Gomi in a war by either landing a KO punch standing or taking Conor down and bludgeoning him. Conor would definitely give Gomi a hard time on the feet though.

I would pick Gomi to win. In a fire fight Gomi will come out winning. His chin is stronger than Conor's. And his power is a tad more too. When he connects, Conor will feel it. When Conor connects, he won't even flinch much... Just look at the kick Azeredo hit him with. Nothing. Or the short hook Nick got him with cleanly right at the point of the jaw. Nothing.

I actually feel the same way was just waiting to see if there was anybody else that thought Gomi back in his prime could easily handle McGregor.

Gomi via violent KO.

Also.. How dare to compare a GOAT lightweight with Cloner? lol

Gomi.

Prime Gomi would KO Conor on the feet, and pound him into dust on the ground.
