How would a Rothwell vs Overeem fight go in a bigger cage?

They fought in a small cage last time, but what if they fight again but this time in a normal cage?

I have Ben Rothwell by submission.

You mean like make the cage 15ft high? I don't see how the cage being higher is gonna help Overeem's chin

...doe.

Rothwell completely outclassed Reem standing, rocked him and finished a moment later. No need for a rematch.

Reem would ko rothwell this time. Let's not fool ourselves

Probably the same. Rothwell matches up well against Overeem.

Literally 100% of your posts are about Overeem. It's disturbing.

Reem would beat Rothwell but thats only if he can keep a distance. Ben is a bear and can eat shots all day.

I wouldn't say he completely outclassed him...it was a pretty short fight, but in that time Reem landed some hard leg kicks and body kicks. I'd imagine if they fought again, Reem would take a more measured approach...he definitely left himself open to get countered. He did a good job protecting his chin against Arlovski this weekend

Econoreem/Calcureem would fight the same fight he did Vs Nelson, Jds & Andrei.

He win the rematch by UD imo

I thought Overeem did take a measured approach against Rothwell. It just didn't work out.

Size of the cage wouldnt matter much, however this Reem is a totally different fighter and he would KO Rothwell this time around

Overeem underestimates him, lands a few things, neglects his defense, gets caught and ko'ed.

On paper I'd pick Overeem considering he is a sharper striker & Rothwell throws loopy punches and is less technical. However Rothwell is much tougher & more durable while Overeem is notorious for folding once things go downhill. I'm leaning towards Rothwell in this rematch, but I wouldn't bet money on it.

I like Rothwell, but even in his fight against Barnett he looked a bit sloppy and gun shy.. he was way too cautious to throw hands.

Same deal in the JDS fight, plus JDS was fighting smart and wasn't allowing any sort of clinch.

I think Overeem would study what JDS did and brutalize Rothwell in the rematch.

It's a hard one to predict, but if I had to put money on it I'd go with Overeem.

Indeed I think he does, moreso than JDS because Rothwell puts more pressure on opponents plus has the chin to take punishment.

That said Overeem had only just moved to Jacksons at that point and I think his return to a MMA(rather than K-1 stalking style) style standup has gotten a bit slicker since then, a bigger cage will always suit Overeem as well.

still a bad match up for Reem, I give Rothwell & Stipe the best chances of beating Reem at HW

I could see Reem winning if he adopts a JDS approach, especially over 3 rounds, just keeping distance and peppering him with kicks, but I think Rothwell beats him 50% of the time

I actually made a threat about this after the fight, but it was thrown away for some reason. Space to move for a HW kickboxer against a slugger is a big thing. The more space you give Overeem, the better he can time his kicks, plan his attacks and avoid inside brawls, where he's at a disadvantage, and also collisions, which are a coin toss at HW.

Overeem was outstriking Rothwell 3 to 1 before he missed in a collision, so he should be able to do better with more space. JDS doesn't need as much space since he's a boxer, his distance is closer even when he fights from the outside.

I think there's a much higher chance that AO loses to JDS in a rematch than him losing to Rothwell. Losing to Rothwell via KO is like losing to Nelson via KO. Meaning if you're a champion kickboxer who can strike in MMA, you should be able to outstrike them.
