I think in a little closer to present reality, suppose in say a decade athletes can use cripser/cas-9 or some other gene splicing technique to enhance their strength and/or endurance.

The UFC would have to have original genetic samples to compare to pre-fight samples for evidence of gene tampering.

The thing is, this would be prevalent in all sports. Imagine trying to keep a level playing field for the olympics. Hard enough already.
