How was Georges St-Pierre able to constantly defeat such elite fighters with such relative ease ?

I've given MMA a lot of time to study and watch it and let me tell you im yet to see anyone to constantly defeat and dominate such elite competitors with such relative ease like GSP did .
I cant think of the last time he fought a non top 5 fighter (Dan Hardy was ranked in top 5 by multiple MMA media outlets) and yet he was constantly dominating elite MMA top contenders and champions with relative ease and doing all of this while being a clean athlete unlike many of his foes .
Even the ones who ere thought to be tough challenges for him were dominated badly by the GOAT and he had only one close fight in his legendary run (Shields 2 judges scorecards dont tell the story since the only significant offense Shields had were his eyepokes and it wasnt close at all)
There are good fighters , great fighters and special fighters . GSP is the later one clearly and its a type of athlete never seen before in the world of fighting.
Fun FACT: Despite not having a wrestling background GSP is arguably the best wrestler in MMA and was never outwrestled (Besides the first Hughes fight in which he had a mental block and was inexperienced) in a wrestling-heavy division just another little testament to how great and special the GOAT is.

He crosstrained at a time guys were training only mma. He was also able to pick up techniques very quickly. He went from 0 wrestling background to outwrestling wrestlers.

Because he's willing to go to a “dark place” every time he fights.

Jones dominated even better guys with even more ease.

his brain matched his physical attributes. GSP never overestimated or got full of himself. he had laser focus and didnt let himself lose focus until the fight was over

its always weird when a post from 2008 makes the front page

GSP was a good fighter and he was very well rounded. He prepared thoroughly and was disciplined enough to adhere to a well developed gameplan.

No one will ever truly know apart from him and the people around him whether he was clean or not. He probably wasn't. Sorry to tell you. I do love him though.

Him and Jones are the two fighters who've had the privilege of having both top physical traits for MMA (albeit in different forms) and top minds for MMA.

GSP came from striking background and became world class MMA wrestler

Jones came from wrestling background and became world class MMA striker.

He cheated in the first BJ fight, lost his first shot at Hughes, and the judges robbed Hendricks. He did beat the fuck out of Fitch something fierce, BJ quit on the stool, Diaz and Condit got shutout(except that dope combo headkick). He redeemed the Hughes loss in style. He wasnt as masterful as his fans pretend but he was damn fucking good

His competition was alright for their era, not one world beater on his resume. A lot of guys with skidded records. None of them were world class at anything except for Matt Hughes with his wrestling even he wasn’t a complete fighter. He played it safe a lot not many finishes.

Don’t forget the Serra KO. That one was hilarious.

That said i think he could beat Woodley

Everything is a little smoother, and easier when your lubed to the gills

Yeah better guys such as Anthony Smith and OSP <Lmaoo>

Yeah. Let's pick the worst guys on their resumes. Dan Hardy and Matt Serra were so elite. Oh wait. GSP got starched by Serra lol.
