How to fix Makenzie Dern?

She had, like, more submissions in UFC than takedowns in UFC, or something crazy like that.

So yeah, she would need to do something about it, you can't seriously count on getting top opponents to the ground via guard pull, dropping on your butt, or some random scramble.

Yeah I hate how influencers keep winning ADCC

One of the most decorated BJJ practitioners in the world, but as soon as they get anything that even remotely resembles a push from the UFC its a wrap so that fighter on sherdog!

A year around wrestling and boxing camp, but mainly just wrestling.

Because he’s so thin?

Im pretty thin, more because he’s so young..Imagine if we don’t ruin everything with civil war, or some other bullshit the things he will see..

Hasn't she been in the MMA business 6 years I hear? There's no fixing her. This is it. This is about as good as she gets....

When was the last time you saw a male UFC fighter crying for a loss on instagram?
You haven't been here long have you ? If you have you wouldn't seen the DC crying gif thousands of times all ready.

Do what PVZ did. Start an OF

Probably have a training partner punch her in the head until she stops the fake accent. That will be a start

Everyone keeps saying in every fight of hers if goes to the ground it’s over yet Mackenzie finds someway in almost every fight to get it to the ground and girls are finding ways to survive.

Dern got Yan to the floor multiple times in this fight. Twice Dern even had Yan for almost the entire round.

I think it’s a little simplistic to say “if she just had takedowns blah, blah, blah…”

It seems there multiple skills that underdeveloped that would make it easier blend in her takedowns that she is missing. Like she could improve her clinch or try to go for TKOs on the ground.

How would you fix Mackenzie Dern if you were her coach? What changes would you make to her training?

She needs to develop basic combos and finish her striking with kicks.
She isn't scared to get taken down so should just start blasting body and head kicks after basic 1-2 combo's on the feet. Kick the absolute crap out of her opponents and then start pushing for the takedown as they start reacting to that. Then she can start going for the takedowns and work from there. her striking is good until she starts to get down and starts bum rushing people with winging hooks.
Her chin is good, her power is good, but she doesn't set up her takedowns.
She still tries to take people down like a BJJ athlete without throwing any strikes. The argument was there for her two dominant rounds on the ground to be 10-8s. they were much more dominant than any of Yan's rounds even the one Dern got dropped in. That level of aggression on the ground should be scored and in the mens division they would have stopped that fight.

I don't know, I have watched her get tagged hard in the face and keep on coming, I think that's a mark of a fighter. I'm not a fan of Dern, but credit where credit is due, lots of fighters who cross over from sports where you don't get punched react much worse to getting hit than she does.
same w/ PVZ her last fight in BK was brutual, but she kept slinging away. Have to give them credit / respect

I am legit curious about this?

Not a Ronda Rousey fan, not even a little bit. Very outspoken about what a terrible person she was but we cannot deny her, that if she could get her opponent down, the fight was almost always going to end and do so quickly via arm bar submission.

Why?

Why when a person like Ronda has basically only 1 go to submission move, could not here opponents be trained to defend it, the way Yan was but to myriad of different submissions? I don't think we can simply just write it off as Ronda's comp was ALL untrainable low level scrubs. There is no reason Meisha or Cat should not have been able to drill a singular arm bar defense.

Is it as simple as Ronda was just so dominant?

I would say Dern should be a bigger threat as she seems to have the skills to go for many different submissions??
Ronda was lucky she was in the early days of wmma once the rest of wmma caught up she was exposed. Dern entered when the division already fleshed out top many other good fighters that can expose her. Can't be a one trick pony like Royce Gracie back in days and complete in today's ufc.
