3 months ago I got transferred to a new manager who is absolutely awful. He doesn't sit in my office and has worked at my company less time than I have. He's one of the "You're wrong I'm right I'm big you're small" kind of guys. Nothing I say is right and everything I try to do right he twists to make it seem wrong.

I won't leave because I believe he'll most likely get fired soon. How do I manage this situation?

Try not to undermine him, since that could just end up making you look bad.

Do EVERYTHING by the book and document everything, especially if you think it could lead to him trying to throw you under the bus. If he is as bad as you say, his failings as a manager will come to light.

I keep every email and try to document everything. Want to know the worst part about it? The only reason he got the job is he's the TKD instructor of the VP of HR.

Exactly. Don't get into arguments with him in front of other coworkers. Just do your job correctly and hope that the situation will resolve itself.

Invite him and his family over for dinner and just hang back , enjoy the good life

That sucks, but unfortunately that kind of stuff happens all the time. Just have to keep your head up and be a better person. In my experience I've found that people that get promotions through friends(family is a different story), rather than abilities don't last very long in those positions.

Agreed, I just don't like the fact he's in her back pocket. There would be no way for me to go up the chain of command since she was the one who brought him on. But thanks for the advice!

I usually check out gamefaqs if there is a boss I'm having trouble with.

Awesome. He's probably nailing the VP of HR (assuming she's a woman, which I think is required by law these days).

Depending on how things pan out, this may actually expedite the situation. If he truely sucks at his job, his inability to be a manager will reflect directly on her. His failings will become her failings, and she may cut him lose to save face. The women I've met over the years in senior management type positions(that didn't sleep their way to the top) are very alpha and care deeply about what their superiors think of them. If she is this type, and he starts to drag her name through the mud she may cut him loose.

Don't just keep the emails. Print them out with their headers and keep them in a binder outside of work. It's pretty easy to make emails "disappear".

Don't know.

My boss is a badass who will take me golfing in the middle of the day some times out of nowhere.
