How strong is the current set of champions in comparison to the past?

This is the weakest group of champs that I can remember. Bisping will probably be a sizable betting underdog for his first title defense and its not like he'll be fighting some crazy, up and coming fighter on a meteoric rise to the top (like Shogun fighting Jones). Stipe doesn't have that "baddest man on the planet" vibe like past HW champs...hell, we knew Lesnar was a fraud (some of us did anyway) but he at least looked the part and could fool people into thinking he was unbeatable. RDA is pretty legit as a fighter but he is a very forgettable champion. Lawler has proven himself with multiple title defenses but he very beatable...no one would be shocked if he loses. Conor is a chump that won't defend his belt. Tate has done well in the UFC but no one believes that she can beat Rhonda. Cruz is very, very good but the guy has been dealing with injuries for so long that he basically has to prove himself again. Mighty Mouse is basically the only current champ that has that Aldo/Jones/Silva/GSP-like aurora of invincibility.

Agreed about Jones.
That was a different situation because Jones already had defended the belt against several legitimate contenders and he actually wasn't interested in the Sonnen fight because Sonnen wasn't on his level.
True good points and I agree but then ppl were jumping up and down calling Jones a duck for not wanting to fight Sonnen (on short notice)and then when he did ppl were upset that he was fighting such a weak opponent.
I think the point I am making is that Bisping will be criticised no matter what and his legitimacy as a MW champ will be brought into question.
We allready have ppl questioning it and he just KTFO of the champ.

He fights hendo he is hand selecting non contender defences and is a paper champ

He does not fight hendo and he is ducking and is "scared" there for is a paper champ for ducking a fight and should be stripped.

Can't win when the world hates u.

Well they can't be any worse than the previous because if the previous ones were that good they would still be champ wouldn't they

IMO Stipe is probably losing to Overeem, at least I hope.
Cormier is a paper champ and will lose to JBJ again.
As much as I like Bisping and am glad he finally won the belt, I see him losing it to Rockhold/Weidman/Jacare
I like Lawler as champ, but all of his fights are wars and can usually go either way
I think the only LW that beats RDA is Khabib
Connor is to big for FW, IMO won't be back

it'll be awhile I think before we see any dominant champs, ala Anderson, GSP, Aldo ...except for Bones when he beats DC

Lol idk about Sylvia tho.

Hard to say, but I think he would be a difficult match for Brock And Cain, stopping TDS And a long, good jab. Stipe I really don't know. Have to see how he does against some big, long strikers...hmm... He did fight Struve. :) I pick Timmy.

RDA is the only one outside of mighty mouse that i feel can cement a legacy well until khabib gets a title shot lol

The new ones are twice as good because New Breed, modern something, etc.

Okay folks, for this next part we're going to make a whole bunch of arbitrary assumptions and we're gonna need at least 3 Glenn Becks with a chalk board (each) to come to any real conclusions here.

As I said those two high profile wins are more than a load of fighters ever achieve. If Bisping was American or Irish he would be a hero.
haha that's very english of you. I may be wrong but I'm not biased against Bisping, believe me. We just disagree...
