Do u guys think he could be the champ? Only lost to Big Nog by decision in his prime (2003-2005).

Sergei when he could grapple still was a serious problem for anyone.

He'd be a current top ten. Very strong, fast, and well rounded.

Poor Ninja.

Yeah, Sergei was a beast in his prime, and could have been a problem for any of the current group of HWs IMO.

Considering he's already beaten arguably the top two guys in the division, um ... I'd say he could be champ.

He probably still could be if he's training grappling.

Would have been the champ & honestly at that time he was the only person I thought that could have dethroned Fedor.

Top 10, probably top 5. In his prime Sergei had some of the best boxing and his ground game was actually pretty good back then. When you put that all toget her with good cardio for a HW he could go far. His fight against Nog is a good indication of how good he was back then, not to mention the brutal ko's he had.

top 5 for sure, Sergei was a beast back in the days. could possibly be still be a solid top 10 these days.

he might of captured the belt when sylvia and arlovski reigned the division, but he wouldn't of beaten cain, jds or werdum. he might of beaten couture and brock. its tough to say though. he's a hell of a fighter, but doesn't string together a lot of wins when he faces top fighters. he wins some and loses some. like barnett. always a threat, goes on a good run and then gets beat. he would of been a perennial top 10 guy in the UFC HW division over the past 10 years though. he could even get there in today's HW division.

Some amazing matchups here. Sergei vs Miocic, JDS, Reem rematch, Arlovski rematch, Browne, Bigfoot.. The list goes on. What a beast this guy was.

If he came when PRIDE folded he'd probably be a champ.

I would say top 5 in his prime. I could see him maybe coming up short on a title eliminator.

so many people overating sergei this guy got owned by jeff monson and LHW non roided Skinny as hell Overeem. Current reem would knock him stiff so would JDS. Cain Werdum would kill him you guys are hilarious how is he remotely even gonna make top 5 and HW is a bad division he was never a great fighter.

Top 5 , I could see him knocking out any heavy weight out there now

I dont think he was most dangerous in his athletic prime. Later in his career, he became much more heavy handed and was able to inflict more damage against his opponents. Paired with his already good chin, his more stationary style of striking meant that he stood toe to toe more often and was able to USE that new power and land hard punches. Im guessing his kryptonite today would be a long, mobile striker with evasive footwork.

He lost to the 205 Reem but KOd Ubereem at heavyweight afterwards.
It's hard to consistently win fights when anyone in the division can end it with 1 punch
