How popular is MMA?

MMA is a real fringe sport in my country. Nobody cares. And it's not even legal to compete, so we probably won't have any fighters coming out to make anyone care either.

I'm in Western Canada and it is mildly popular. Less than all other major sports except Soccer. Not close to Hockey, NFL Football, Baseball, Basketball. But it gets respect amongst the 15-40 male demographic and the cougar women around 40-50 years old. I have never seen so many MILFs outside of a Randy Couture fight. Of course that was a few years ago, but I guess they go for Hendo now.

Here, in the Netherlands, virtually nobody knows what MMA is and they only know about this vague "cage fighting without rules" thing that happened in the '90's. Hell, the only martial artists in full-contact sports that are relatively known are Bonjasky, Schilt, Aerts and Hari. The last one mostly because of his run-ins with the law, not because of his fighting.

Less popular than Judaism
