How much does the weight cut affect fighters after rehydration?

Anyone have personal experience? Really interested to know what it feels like on fight day after being on death's door the day before. Like, when guys like Rockhold and McGregor are struggling to walk to the scale and can barely talk, does rehydration really get them back to 100% the next day? Seems like something so hard on your body would have to have some effect.
 
You will not be 100% the next day, not a chance.
It takes at least a week for the body to fully recover from dehydration like the one you suffer during weight cut.

You'll be fine on the next day, but your body will certainly not reach peak performance / endurance.

I doubt that it has that big of an impact. Some fighters cut just as much and fight with a consistent pace for 3 or 5 rounds.
 
It's a stupid practice. 10lbs should be the limit for smaller fighters and 15lbs for welterweight and above.
 
I just googled it and it is impossible to rehydrate in 24 hours because to get everything fully back to normals, it actually takes several days to 2 weeks to be back at 100%
 
Never had to cut, but know people who did... they felt fucked up on fight day but figured their opponent had the same problems.

No weight cutting = better fighters. But it is what it is i guess.
 
It takes the brain 3 days to fully rehydrate after extreme dehydration.

The organs about 2 days.

Muscles about 1 day.
 
No way to fully recover within 48 hours.
 
I'm sure it does, but considering everybody does it, we won't know until we see more guys fighting close to their walkaround weight. You would think the fighters that don't cut much would perform better, but the cutting practice is there for a reason.

Guys like Edgar that walked around at 159 fighting at 155, but eventually cut down to 145 because those guys fighting at 155 walk around at 180-190. It's almost not fair, and mma would look a lot different if everyone just cut to the nearest weightclass.

I wonder if it’s worth the tradeoff for all cases. Some guys seem to do well without cutting a lot of weight.
 
It fucking sucks, and I did it just for grappling tournaments. I can only imagine how hard and hard shitty it is for pros at extreme levels.

One time I did a grappling tournament all natural, and it was interesting going against guys that are essentially a weight class above me. There is a trade off, and there can be a huge strength advantage. However, that was actually one of my more enjoyable tournament experiences.
