I teach mma but only charge $20 per hour. I got quite a few students, teach both private and group. I want to increase the price but am worried many will leave. I have the key to a free dojo space, no overhead costs, nothing.

I increased the price from $15 to $20 a while back and it happened slightly. How much do you charge for any martial arts related service?

How much do you have to give your pimp?

You're charging 20$ an hour for multiple students, have no overhead, and want to charge even more? Wtf? Why?

I drive some of them home that don't have a car after class. They are out of the way from where I live. Maybe only those students I should ask $25.

Aren't you profiting pretty well from these sessions?

Charge more if you are teaching them the deadly stuff... Sensei Segal says to.

None, I am the pimp. I teach my students how to get out of the guard.

I haven't been a member of a martial arts school since like 2005, so I don't know what the going rate is today, but I seem to recall them always charging a monthly membership fee instead of an hourly fee. Has that changed?

If you do your research, and determine what the appropriate going rate is for your service, I would recommend giving them plenty of notice that you are raising their rates. Let them know in writing and verbally that their rates will be going up in a few months or whenever they renew their contracts (if you even have contracts). Don't like tell them you are raising their rates starting tomorrow or you will have some very pissed off customers that bitch about you on Yelp.

You are 100% correct. But I don't have a formal school. People come to my informally, we train at night and I pass on my knowledge. Students come and go.

$20/h is peanuts rate. Poverty rates is $50, and that's your advanced teammate giving you a discount. Most gyms on avg. charge $100

Sessions are hourly based.

Damn, I had a feeling.

$20 is like some Myanmar..Bangladeshi price point..especially if we're talking about 1 on 1 training
