How many title defenses would Usman have gotten if that head kick didn’t land?

im not sure if you're being sarcasic or not, but just to clarify, Khazmat literally missed weight a month after Usman was knocked out and has been forced to go to MW ever since.
I couldn't remember if he was having his weight issues yet. I still stand by that he would've beaten Usman if he made it to 170. Usman was already shop worn by that point in time.

The headkick isn't the issue it's the fight after where he lost again. If he still had it he wouldn't have lost

He barely beat an older Usman at 185, so I don't really get how that's possible. If Khazmat could have been 170 champion, well, he would have been 170 champion.

I'm not sure if you know or not but khamzat can literally beat any guy on the roster. He is the best fighte maybe of all times according to many around here

Usman would have lost to someone like belal or brady, people act like that's a bad take but colby gave usman the fight of his life and I think Belal/brady are better versions of colby

Tough to say what was next because the division was empty and/or booked.

A month before the Usman - Leon fight, Khamzat was announced to fight Diaz in the fall apart September event that really tanked Khamzat's momentum, so I'm not sure if they would have gone with him next.

Around about the same time as that announcement, they also announced Belal fighting backwards against Brady in an obvious "we don't want you near the title and are booking a fight that, even if you win impressively, is not good enough for a shot."

Rankings would have been something like:

#1 Colby
#2 Khamzat
#3 Edwards
#4 Burns
#5 Belal

What would even happen there? Maybe they pull Khamzat from the Diaz fight? But that doesn't seem likely. Maybe they just fight harder about keeping Khamzat in a vaulted position on 279 after it starts falling apart, like digging to find a higher ranked replacement. I dunno

After the events of yesterday, I can’t help but wonder
Two things:
1. You are racist
2. That wasn't Leon it was Carlos Newton that landed that headlock. But to you all black UFC WW champions look alike don't they?

Usman probably just fights Belal for the same reason he fought Leon, he had fought everyone so all that is left are boring fighters with long streaks.

Although not a title defense, I think Usman probably would have tried to get a second belt. He had been talking about getting a shot at the 205 title. Maybe they would have made it happen for fun. He definitely could have gotten a 185 title shot if he wanted one.

I think if he had gotten the decision over Leon and we do not get that stupid, stupid rematch he would've lost to either Belal or Khamzat.

imo he's better than Belal then and now.

I don't know how Belal became champion- it still baffles me lol

Yeah, probably. But not sure about that MW shot, cuz Alex was already scheduled to fight Izzy, and I'd assume that A) Izzy was always going to get that rematch and B) If they were gonna put someone against this new kickboxing star, they might have gone with their dominant wrestling champ, even if from the division below.

He would have had to wait after the rematch for sure.
